It was the passover. Everyone there was jewish, but the jewish leaders are the ones that pushed the whole thing.
i suppose there could have been non jewish people there but the vast majority there were jewish in town for the passover. The context leans toward this being spoken by jewish people referring to themselves and their children.
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

The jews weren't part responsible. They were -almost- entirely responsible.
The new israel has only a NAME it shares with the Israel of the past. The bible makes it clear Christians are the new israel. There is no need to allow ourselves a case of collective stockholm syndrome over these guys.
We should treat them like any other country. As long as it's -mutually- beneficial, we can be allies. No one can tell you how we benefit from our alliance, which is actually NOT an official alliance on paper or treaty. It is unofficial.
So, if they won't officially be our ally. And no one knows why or how they benefit us. What kind of ally are they? What do we get out of it?

We are all guilty of sin if that is what you are getting at. But the jewish leaders had jesus crucified.
