There is the occasional unjust banning. Not all that frequent from what I've observed.

Fwiw, this forum is MUCH more lenient than reddit or democratic underground

I was banned from r/politics for making the point that tax rates in the 50s weren’t actually at 90%

Rex and a want, two dem posters on here, were banned from DU for not being liberal enough

I think we are in the weeds here

TD is a message board and aggregator not a news organization, I read the OP as is this the best place to FIND the news, not generate unbiased news. Most of the complaints in this thread are about the discussions and board culture not the news story itself

There are way too many examples of a shitty thread title, a link to a hack piece in the OP, then a break down of the fake news and some clarity, context and truth in the comments. This happens everyday all day from both left and right leaning discussions/threads

Comparing TD to the likes of ABC is stupid
TD is more comparable to a much much smaller reddit than a global news company

Sometimes it’s fun to stray off the path.

Plus, who doesn’t love to be in the weed?

Thanks, this is what I was trying to get at too. TD is similar in that it's a content aggregator where all the content is generated by and therefore biased by the community.

It does work well if you follow the links and think for yourself. But there is also bias in which links are posted in the first place, and a hypothetical story that goes against the majority opinion of the board is much less likely to get posted at all unless it's ridiculous enough to post for laughs and jeers.

So based on that alone, using TD by itself as a source of unbiased news is not ideal. Better to use a variety of sources and try to find the truth in the middle.

How do you think the content for ABC and CBS is generated?

Which is exactly, why as an east coast liberal, I come here. Some eye-opening takes on this board.

Not anything like a content aggregator site?

If ABC and CBS are biased in the content they make, how does that change anything about what I said above about tigerdroppings being biased by what its users post?

You're missing the point of this discussion and have been missing the point for pages now, to the point where I swear you are just trolling (and it's working on me at least).

I never said it did.

Do you call everyone who doesn’t immediately agree with you a right learning troll who doesn’t understand reality?

I think one side of the aisle in this forum is guilty of RA’ing dissenting opinions in a bombarding fashion. I’m as conservative as it gets but my dissent is often called a troll. Why, I do not know.

This is not a forum for free speech and it really isn’t supposed to be. I understand that and I try to comply with the edicts issued from above. I’ve become a persona non grata and I’m sure roadGator would agree with that.

But to answer the OP’s question, this is not the best place for non-biased news commentary. It often relies on links from news sources that are decried as “communist” (news organizations that actually have reporters who verify information) with the occasional sprinkling of gateway pundit, Fort Russ .com and Facebook rumors.

Anything from The Atlantic or other left-leaning source is downvoted and RA’d into oblivion.

It’s the takes on that information that are anything but unbiased.
