No. I have disagreements with friends and family all the time. But I still get along with them.

Pretty much. Any other political board I've been on I'm banned within five minutes of disagreeing with the hive mind.

Being libertarian, that means depending on the subject the left or the right hate my guts. So it's kinda hard to find a place to post for any length of time.

ETA: Online that is. I interact in real life with people I don't agree with all the time. Friends, family, colleagues, etc.

If you work in Corporate America, you cannot talk politics at work any longer (if you disagree with the liberal opinion and POV). You will be reported to HR and probably fired.

These folks want to see Handmaids Tale or The Man in the High Castle, come work in Corporate America in 2019.

I think everyone is the worst version of their political ideology on this board, and that no perspective can really be gleaned from it.

Nah, my mom is a hardcore democrat who watches CNN all day. But she's ate up with the TDS so she's not a credible view point.

It's also the version you imagine in your brain based on the words on the computer screen. That image can be very broad.

Sort of, almost all of my friends share similar views as mine (a few are a lot further right). I do have a few family members that identify as libertarian; but other than abolishment of as much gov't as possible they are pretty conservative.

Most liberals in my family do not feel comfortable talking politics because they get chastised by some of the older members of the family. Which is funny because the far right older generation love to talk about how they are tolerant of differing views as long as the discussions can be cordial.

find it interesting that there are so many topics here where someone is seeking the opinion of liberals when there are so few liberals who post here

Nah, I frick people up on FB, at the gastro, the coffee shop...all over...

But I only use facts, I always outline who said what and what their testimony is...I call out every logical fallacy and will give props if ever a good point is made...

Usually, I watch somersaults of twisted information build a basis of ones position...when informed, they usually reply, "I didn't know that..."

Yesterday at the Kro-bar I showed a fellow patron what was going on with Epstein spider web, and how it reaches a file on Weiner's laptop that made the #2 NYPD cops retch, and his statement that they were keeping copies in case the FBI sits on it...then I showed him all the dead NYPD cops that saw that file...

He didn't understand why the media didn't cover it all, but why there are so many memes...he didn't know AI blockers at bigtech have difficulty tracking memes...showed him all that...

Dude walked away wanting to bring down the fed, return power to local government and ending the income tax.
He was a self-avowed Bernie bro.

Going into how Bernie sold out hurt him...lol

I live in the reddest section of the reddest parish in a red state. My options are limited.

In my office of about 60 people, two are liberal. I can have rational discussions with one; the other is a nut.

Everyone in my family leans right or just doesn't talk politics.

I have lived in places that were very left wing.

TBH, I much prefer discussing differing politics in person than as an anonymous figure on a message board. Problem is, finding someone who wants an honest discussion.
