No. Are you? Let me put in simpler terms so maybe you'll understand.
While head coach at Ole Miss, Hugh Freeze and his staff committed NCAA penalties. He was fired. Matt Luke is now the head coach. Nobody blames Matt Luke for things that happened under Freeze, though he is the one that is suffering the consequences of NCAA penalties.
WTF is that?
If Ed Ogeron committed NCAA violations in 2006, using your line of thought, the 2018 team should have to pay for those violations despite the fact that Matt Luke didn't commit the violations and the players never benefited.
You're basically admitting that there is a statute of limitations on punishment of past sins, right?

The point your pea brain can't seem to grasp is it is not uncommon for entities to suffer the consequences of decisions and actions made be people before them. That doesn't mean the one's suffering the consequences are the ones to blame for those actions.
Blame is the word used in the Tweet in the OP.

Yes, there are delayed consequences, but they can be justified as long as those who are impacted or benefited are compensated or punished. Delaying that a century and a half is not justifiable. That's why your analogy is stupid. Using your line of thought, Jews have precedent to go after the Egyptian government.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm arguing in favor of reparations. I am not. I am merely pointing out that the argument for them centers on a promise made to recently freed slaves decades ago that was never delivered. Those that made the promise already took the blame for the atrocity of slavery.

I was promised that I could keep my doctor.
I was promised a SAVINGS on my insurance.
People were promised "read my lips...no new taxes"
We have all been promised things from the Fed Gov. I am tired of acting as if a "broken promise" is somehow unique and relevant.
It is a CRUTCH. "We" will do much better when we stop blaming, whining, and accusing and start working, learning, and befriending. It is not being a sell-out or Pollyanna. It is pragmatic and effective.
I'm sick of the silliness that its those "other dudes" that keep me in this valley. If there is a mountain in your way, shut the frick up and start climbing.
I've seen it. I've lived it.
Show me a man with a great excuse...and, I'll show you a man who NEEDS one!

.
Dreamers personally face deportation because their parent brought them here illegally. They will personally lose their jobs and be deported out of the country if legislation isn't passed.
Human slavery is illegal. Anyone owning slaves today would be arrested and jailed. Depending on the situation, potentially for life.
If anyone casts blame on white people today for slavery, that is stupid. Is there any threat that the power of the Law and Federal Government might come down on you and hold you legally responsible today for what your ancestors did 150 years ago? Will you go to jail for what they did?
Of course not. It's impossible. I don't see anyone calling for it.
This is a dumb analogy.
Dreamers are facing deportation now. You're mad because a statue got pulled down.

The argument is dumb because no one alive today was a 19th century slave nor were they a 19th century government official. There is no argument for reparations. The fact that you're denying that white people aren't being blamed for their ancestors' sins is delusional at best.

Now apply that to DACA. See how that works?

One could even argue that those promises were fulfilled just in different ways.
1860's Cost / Wages:
Average wage per day: $1.97 (~$500/yr)
Average Mule cost: $125
Average cost of 40 acres: $800
Average profit on 40 acres: $1,000/yr
So this promise would have equated to $1,925 the first year and $1,000/yr after. We ignore the wage because the land being worked is the promisee's land and therefore they are paid to work it. Assume a life of 20 years, the land value is now $1,200, the mule has died, and the profit over that time is $20k. Giving a total value of $21.2k. ($1,200 in 1913 - only calculator I found was the equivalent to $30k today)
Now the individuals that still use this promise as a crutch are most likely receiving government assistance. The hypothetical maximum has been calculated at ~$38k per year (or if working and paying taxes this is the same as $43k). This is if taking full benefits.
This may seem disingenuous and I am aware that the land would be of much higher value now, but the land would also be broken up over dozens of descendents and / or be taxed to hell be the death tax depending on location.
Seems like to me $38k is more than the $30k that was promised. At some point you have to take advantage of what is given to you and cultivate it into far more. Do what YOU need to do to better YOUR family for the future. You can't rely on others to provide for you.

One of the most utterly ridiculous and false statements I’ve ever seen on this board. And what’s even worse is that there are white people who feel like they have to apologize for being white.
