I love the outdoors and National Parks but this doesn't sound that bad. A lot of these probationary hires were probably Biden DEI hires anyway.
Recent hires arent responsible for bloated government. Its the seasoned bureaucrats who are the problem.

I have a friend in Alaska who had friends in the forest service that did good work. As a Robert Kennedy fan who values how sacred our environment is this is just silly to cut a midst the countless actual fraudulent departments in the federal government
This story is told over and over for every federal employee who loses their job. "No, not there! Those folks were doing essential work." Some were, some weren't, but it can't be avoided. Our government is absurdly expensive, and getting moreso at an increasing rate. Hard choices have arrived.
Despite all the protests coming from every quarter, unaffordable debt growing exponentially faster than the economy is an economic deathstar that makes these govt cutbacks pale in comparison. The longer that problem goes unaddressed, the more harsh the outcome. 25 years ago we could have trimmed the fat. Now we have to cut meat off the bone. Soon we'll be amputating limbs.

Selling off a significant portion of federal lands to private investors is a terrible idea, probably among the worst I’ve read on this board. All of the wilderness out west is one of the best things this country has going for it. Say goodbye to accessing any of the nature that is sold, it’ll be gated off.

How is Nature supposed to nature without them

Okay but are they essential? If not then it was irrelevant hires under Biden to crank job numbers. I’d assume a lot of higher bureaucrats have been replaced as well as cabinet members have taken over.

The land should all be returned to the states and become state parks.
Let them keep the revenue and have the expenses.

I;ve seen list of the local positions cut, and the rationale is baffling. Seems like a hatchet job.
Who made those specific cut decisions?
The bureaucracy?

I was with you until you decided to talk shite. I'm glad your friends got fired and I hope they shut down every national park and sell the land to developers... of trailer parks.

Just fired probationary employees, around 1000. Firings wont affect 5000 seasonal workers. So all is good…..
Just trimming the fat. Biden prolly hired his relative and friends for those probationary positions…..

I would suggest taking a minute on this.
Correct. Ran into a Park Ranger who was Trans and called himself Yogi. His partner was a midget and called himself Boo Boo. They thought it was hilarious

I don’t know if this would work in practice. The vast majority of federal wilderness doesn’t bring in any Revenue at all, and many, if not most or all, of the states out west cannot afford to maintain the millions of acres of protected wilderness.
I think in practice it would result in most of the the states selling off the land to developers and ruining what we currently have out there.
This is an instance where government spending money on something gives us all a huge return. Very few other people in the world can claim to have the wealth of nature and wilderness that we do.

US Forest Service is firing about 3,400 recent hires
So, they are cutting the budget by firing the probationary new hires.
And, this news is coming from The Guardian. The most anti-Trump site in the country.

The national park service was recruiting gays
Many lesbians.
This has been true for years. Back to Obama practices. Several Rangers have told me this many times.

Yes, I’m sure a jab on a message board was the tipping point for you to support maintaining the best outdoors the country has to offer
