This feels like a pipe dream. You saw what happened the last time we negotiated with Iran without buy-in from Israel.
It does appear that our interests are diverging as this war evolved. Trump has publicly rebuked their attacks on Iranian gas fields and energy infrastructure.
The concern is that we might not be able to control them. They could really make things messier than we intend them to be.

For me it is. If there is no regime change, we will have to do this every 5 to 10 years.

At this point, yes. The gov had no problem throwing $200B at this operation so far. No telling how much money Israel has spent in the years of spycraft, subterfuge and infiltration that led up to this.
And yet the regime of Iran just keeps declaring new leaders every time the previous one is turned to pink mist. They are staunchly jihadi, and they will not give up. As long as even one of them is capable of leadership and still breathing, he will suffer a setback but eventually have Iran right back to doing Iran things again.
The only option that is a good outcome for the region and for the US, is completely erasure of the regime and a new government in Iran.
Retrospect has shown that our campaign to oust Hussein was a catastrophic miscalculation that helped lead to all of this. He was an A-hole and a tyrant no doubt, but he was controllable and stabilized the entire region including Iran to a great extent. During the first Gulf War when all of those Iraqi fighters were surrendering by the thousands to American forces, on sight, we had already won. Saddam learned that he didn't stand a chance against the first-world Western wehrmacht in the first few days. And he backed off. Fast forward to 9/11 and somehow a bunch of guys from Saudi Arabia with ties to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, Syria and Pakistan along with an arguably complicit US IC, blew up the twin towers and it resulted in a second President named "Bush" following in his father's footsteps and invading Iraq again, which led to a 20+ year regional war.
History is wild. It's true that it never repeats itself, but there's no doubt that it certainly rhymes a lot.

Were they ever aligned in the first place? No way Israel doesn’t get a say in negotiations, they’re the reason we are there.

Seems like pretty much every time we get directly involved there things get worse. Maybe this time will be different.

I would hope so. I have been told for 40 years about a how amazing and badass Iran's military. I would hope that they could last a little longer than 2 weeks

I don't know if it will. The only way I believe it would be different, is if the Persian people take back their country, install an actual democracy and we (the US) then stay completely out of it... but nothing I've ever seen gives me any indication to believe that we are even capable of "not interfering".
...we are just a really meddlesome lot.

It's the only acceptable outcome for the world not just the U.S.
