Is it true that ventilators are only 40% effective?

So ventilation is the last effort by the doctors and the success rate is only 40%. Is that true? Would the FDA approve a method with such a poor track record? Fauci seems to be saying we see more ventilators but are they really working?

I hope all patients get the option of HCQ/Z-pac/Z+ cocktail before being placed on a ventilator.

I’ve heard as low as 10 percent.

40 percent would be a great outcome, imo.

Folks put on ventilators for treatment don’t have a great shot at survival no matter the malady.

I don't think it is 40% - 20% to 30% at best. I've heard the 10% as well.

It's somber and nobody wants to talk about it, but we should. "Muh ventilators" was just another "Gotcha" attempt.

Could be 20% or lower... fact is most people who are sick enough to need a vent end up dying.

My opinion is, by the time that patients are placed on vents, they may already be too fatigued physically, to fight back.

I wonder how many of those people that survived with ventilation would have survived without it?

I think it’s way lower than 40%. Probably 20% or lower. And 20% is probably charitable.

You throw the Hail Mary even when it has a low probability.

I would guess that most places aren’t using vents to the exclusion of HCQ/zpack.

There’s some discussion beginning that vents may not be overly effective for reasons particular to the virus.

Are y’all pulling the “it is way lower than 40%” statement out of yalls butt or what? Not one of y’all has posted anything to refute that number.

The early numbers out of China were 80% to 97% of patients on a vent died, depending on the study.

The numbers are out there.

ventilators help you breathe but all they do is keep you alive a few extra days

they figured out ventilators are just a band aide to prolong suffering

The vents are not working IMO because they are not allowing enough CO2 exchange. The vents are forcing O2 and opening the aveoli however the O2 pressure is too high to allow CO2 transfer.

If only there were a machine that could clean the blood of CO2 while under forced O2.
