110%
Leftists already showed us the standard. History doesn't matter (see confederate statues). frick the historical nature of these universities, don't let them discriminate.

Everret Dirksen had a quote about that.

They’re certainly not providing a worthwhile product, save for maybe 1 or 2. Did you know there are over 100 HBCUs? They’re largely financially insolvent and graduate roughly 1/4 of their enrollees.

We could shudder 75% of ALL colleges and be a much more productive society. Most young people would benefit more from on the job training in a specific field right out of high school. So much time and money is wasted in college. Much of the "education" is social engineering bullshite that weakens young minds and our society. This is by design.

Why isolate HBCUs? My sense is there are quite a few colleges in need of overhaul. If memory serves correct that was a topic of discussion in Louisiana in recent years....kind of like a 'chicken in every pot.'
It isn’t even an HBCU issue.
Louisiana is a perfect example. There are far too many universities.
Half (at least) need to be closed and the “party daycare” aspect of college needs to be killed.
That requires that move to a meritocracy system though, which won’t happen.

If it can fund itself then why do you care?
If it can't then send it to DOGE and see how serious they are about cutting waste or if they want to play politics.

No. At this point they seem to want segregation from whitey more than anyone these days, so let them have their own schools... and neighborhoods... where they live in concentrated populations together and feel "safer." Voluntarily of course. I think it's best and safer for everyone. In fact, I think we should incentivize this behavior.

Why would we eliminate any university of higher learning? What is your purpose to get rid of any university?
I don't support getting rid of them for other reasons... but for the sake of argument, why would not you not get rid of state funded universities that have terribly low graduation rates, dilapidated facilities, low attendance, and worthless degrees with no clout in the professional world.

The same guy who said we need to defund / slash the DOE…is same guy who promised $250 million a year to HBCUs.
I can think of lots of reasons that investment would be a good decision, actually. Has nothing to do with actually caring about HBCUs tho.

I’m betting there’s a few dragging that number way down. I recall when Jindal wanted to shut down SUNO, they had a graduation rate of about 5%.

The problem with HBCUs is that it graduates some people who are functionally illiterate and then that degree gets them into jobs to fulfill racial equality goals.
I worked with one Grambling grad. When he asked me to fill out a list for him he admitted that he couldn't read nor write. He got his degree by dictating to his girlfriend and she wrote the papers for him.

Are you serious? Any politician that is dumb enough to float this idea would be run out of DC on a rail before the sun went down.

Why do you want the federal government taking over state-run institutions? Is that a small-government conservative talking point these days? Let the federal government decide which state-run institutions can exist? Or is that only when an immigrant who gives money to Trump gets to decide which state-run institutions stay open?

Yes. It was time decades ago.

You're certainly not wrong. We need a lot more Birmingham Southerns to close.

I agree with this but the colleges and universities that aren’t producing graduates aren’t party schools. Community colleges have the lowest graduation rates, followed by Southern Shreveport, LSU Eunice, SUNO and LSU Alexandria.

Historically black colleges and universties.
Schools like Howard, Tuskeegee, and Spellman that were essential during the segregation era. Now they often suffer from poor management, low graduation rates, and insufficient funding. The best black students don't go to HBCUs any more. They simply aren't competitive.

If those are the current rankings SUNO has moved up. They were once dead last with a 4% graduation rate.

Start with the 19 HBCU which are federal Land Grant institutions like Southern in Louisiana. Not surprisingly, most are in southern states. Merge them with each state's major Land Grant University.
