Is it even legal to conceal troop deployments?

Obviously there are covert missions, but I am pretty sure you can't declare general troop deployments numbering in the thousands as top secret.
Anyone know the details on that?

It is probably closer to being illegal to publish troop deployments and maneuvers than it is to being illegal to not.

I can only imagine how illegal the Normandy landing was. I can't believe we allowed that to happen. They should have had the USA military command arrested on the spot.
