This week, PBS Frontline did a 2 part episode on Facebook and the shady stuff it does with our data and manipulation and all that.

What do yall think? Is Facebook evil? Would the world be better without FB?

I don't even understand why an adult would use that platform

Yes, and without multiple other social media platforms... It sucks when adults are addicted to this shite but kids are really where the apps are starting to hurt...

Um, that ship has sailed.

Adults are not only using FB but FB is pretty much an adult platform.

That's why kids are leaving it in droves. It used to be a kid thing...........but now, no one wants to post their party pics when Grandma is gonna see them!

Is Facebook evil? I think so but that is at least debatable.

Beyond evil, Facebook is the biggest waste of human energy and time ever conceived. Far worse than TV.

The thing itself isn't evil.

Lots of the people who populate it certainly are.

Adults who push it on children as some sort of important part of life. absolutely are.

Facebook as company wasn't evil until it began manipulating algorithms to favor a progressive agenda.

Before that it was just a company which provided a visible platform that brought out the worst in people.

It is poison for the soul.

Facebook is a refined version of that Chinese social site that collects all the data on their citizens and rates them as citizens. Except instead of just the government having a peek into our lives Facebook sells all of our information to companies throughout the world. Also their ability to censor and how they enforce it is completely counter to the principles of what social media are supposed to be, people should be free to put whatever they want out there no matter how ludicrous it may be or if you disagree with it.

I got off of FB a while back, I was getting freaked out about suggested sites and advertisements that were popping up, the internet knows way too much about me and I’m not someone that ever posts anything. Also when my family got on there and started tagging me in baby pictures and arguing politics I decided it was time to move on.

Sure they are. I was warned in the seventh grade, 1964, that computers would become the hands of the devil. Mr. Cosse was right.

Without FB how would we know when little Johnny won the travel ball World Series or that Lisa has the best husband in the world because he takes the whole family to Orange Beach once a year??

It is when all thats left are adults and Obama makes a buddy pact with the CEO. Then he siphons off data for progressive movements and stifles conservative speech on the platform.

Facebook was cool when it was limited to college students.

When they started letting moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, siblings, high school kids on, it became uncool really fast.

Now its mostly baby boomers posting a meme a minute about "when I was a kid"

I don't know if I'd consider FB evil but I got off years ago and deleted my account. I was worried that I'd share an offensive meme or say something stupid and get in trouble with my employer.

I have LinkedIn and TD.

If you post on Facebook through a Google Chrome browser on an iPhone you have literally no privacy as someone is watching, reading, and listening to everything you are doing, storing that data, and then selling it anyone who wants it and using it to trap you into impulse buying things.

It's pretty terrifying when you think of it.

Most post-apocalyptic scenarios in movies are violent robot takeovers.

This takeover wasn't violent at all, we just handed them everything with complete and total trust and absolutely no forethought or worry about the consequences.

What's worse is the absolute insane level of importance people place on social media. That's the truly evil part. The inherent and uncontrolled vanity, lust, and greed people obsessively fall into when using social media.
