Open-handed would be more of a bitch slap. Back-handed would be a pimp slap. I just want to know who Iran thinks it is.

Yea Iraq had the 4th largest military in the world and it took us only three days to defeat them. I'm pretty sure Iran is no where near that.

They clearly see us as the enemy and Obama treated them as such. Wait. No? Damn it.
I see this more like the average NBA player who talks smack to the opponent's superstar.

More like average D league player. Iran couldn't hold a spot on an NBA roster

They hustle in the paint but can't play above the rim, have what you could call a mid range game I guess, poor floor awareness, and no perimeter shooting to speak of

The problem is that our freaking military has been depleted to a point that I'm not sure we have the troops sufficient to sustain a ground war. Air & Navy--Iran doesn't have a chance but our ground game is swiss cheesesque.

Fair enough. Then that only strengthens my "ignore them" stance.

Only this "NBA" team is developing nuclear weapons and the rocket system to deliver them and they now have the means to speed up the process thanks to Obama.

Be careful though, they won't stay that way for long if you leave it up to them. A little money + lack of restrictions and they can give you more of a game than you asked for

Didn't we hear something at least vaguely similar regarding the vaunted Republican Guard of Iraq back in the 1990s?

I seriously doubt Iran is any better prepared for war than a Hussein-led Iraq was.

Park a Carrier Group off their Arabian seacoast port and off their oil depot at Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf. They'll be calling us Massa before the week is out. No one screws with a US carrier group....no one.

But we really don't need to do that. Just go to Zurich put a few dollars into a pimp arse banker there and have him turn off the SWIFT codes. In 10 days they will be grovelling

Meh. If we are so willing to accept Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and power then I see no reason we should have any more difficulty accepting less in regards to Iran.
