Still 40% lower than Joey's when adjusted for inflation.

It's okay, mon!!

In September 2022, the U.S. national average gas price was approximately $4.87 per gallon (monthly data from LendingTree indicates September 2025 was $3.17, and May 2026 was $4.48; historical records show June 2022 was $4.93 and July 2022 was $4.56, placing September 2022 near $4.87). Adjusted for inflation to 2026 dollars, this price is approximately $4.87–$4.90 per gallon.

While the nominal price in September 2022 was near all-time highs, the inflation-adjusted cost is lower than the 2012 peak (which adjusted to $5.07 in 2026 dollars) and the 2008 peak (which adjusted to $4.85–$4.98 depending on the specific month and source). The 2022 prices remain among the highest in modern history, but they do not exceed the real-term costs of the 2008 or 2012 oil shocks.

September 2022 Nominal Price: ~$4.87/gallon (estimated from monthly highs of $4.93 in June and $4.56 in July 2022).

Inflation-Adjusted to 2026: ~$4.87–$4.90/gallon.

Historical Context: This is below the inflation-adjusted average of $5.07/gallon in 2012 and the peak of ~$4.98/gallon in 2008.

so stuff really gets done to help this country

I know you're being sarcastic but I'll regard it a big win if Democrats take both houses and effectively neuter, then impeach and possibly remove Trump, who has done a horrible job in his second term.
