What's the story behind that? Coke & Pepsi are now $2.49 a liter? Sure, Walmart has them cheaper, but the last jump was like 30 cents in recent DAYS.
You ever wonder why that is?

Soda prices are said to be jumping because of higher 'tariff' costs, but oddly, Publix soda hasn't risen at all. $1.25 for a 2 liter bottle where as Pepsi and Coke are like $3.50.
Hell, Coke is probably still telling us to be less white, so Eff them.

I like how yall convince yourselves Trump also didn’t add nearly $8 trillion to the national debt in his first term (and on track to do it again). You can’t pump that much money into the economy and not expect inflation. He is as guilty for inflation as Biden is and so is congress.

This. You can’t pull water out of just one end of the pool.
225 years and 43 presidents to get to 10T. Another four terms under three presidents to Quadruple that in 16 years.

It is more to do with collusion, price fixing, and market consolidation. PepsiCo owns a shitload of name brands, more than you would ever think, and way more than just soda. Walmart is its biggest retailer. Pepsi was, and still is, working with Walmart to force other smaller chains to raise their prices. If those chains refuse(d) they risk losing all of those brands. Because PepsiCo is a giant in the food industry and Walmart in the retail industry they have massive pull, and big time lobbyists.
Right now, as it is, PepsiCo is the only implicated company, but there are no doubt others who do it. The Biden era FTC brought the case, Trump's appointees dropped it while vilifying the Biden appointees, leaving everything sealed, and forcing consumer's rights groups to file suit in court to force everything to be unsealed. After pitching a hissy fit, the Trump admin lost and had to unredact and release the files from the case.

Gas is lower than it has been in over 10 years. Will likely go down further except for California (bc the state and local governments screwed the refineries ). The rest of prices will follow the decent.

I wouldn’t say its doing well but GDP growth, inflation and wage growth are all trending in a positive direction
It has been so bad that it will take a year or so for people to feel like it’s doing well
Posted on 12/25/25 at 9:41 am to deltaland
It’s gonna take years of real wage growth and getting housing prices under control. One year isn’t going to do it.

What caused inflation to go that high?
Overreaction to Covid by shutting the economy down leading to stimulus money being injected into the economy to keep people and businesses afloat, then later a supply shortage of goods and a ton of supply chain logistical problems. And then companies kept using that as an excuse to further raise prices even when those problems went away as Americans just kept spending money like there was no tomorrow
