I think people believe it is equally as bad, but the illegal immigration has a bigger target because it's, you know, illegal.
H1B Visa abuses are complete bullshite. I totally agree with you on this. The legal immigration needs to severely limited as well.

all of your interviews are conducted by Indian hiring managers who discriminate against non-Indians. They only want to hire other Indians, specifically Indians from their own caste or village.
The same thing is happening in the medical field. Hospitals have found that they can sponsor someone on a work visa and offer to pay them about $75,000 per year less than the going rate. Since foreign doctors who complete a residency still need someone to sponsor them they can’t job shop like an American can. You are right about once an individual of Indian descent gets into a hiring position they only want more Indians.

It’s not just workers immigrating to the U.S. and working here using visas, a large number of jobs are being sent overseas to contractors and locals who get a badge and become an employee. It’s not just India, either.
Companies will tell lies like wanting to set up an environment where work can “follow the sun” but it’s all about cutting labor costs. The international workers are not stakeholders in the U.S., much less the local communities where domestic employees are laid off. They usually aren’t consumers of the product and have no real loyalty to the company
My brother runs a "team", that is all located in Eastern Europe, for an American company.

I've heard this sort of position, at least for a good one, requires a lot of experience.
I'm sure both of your daughters will be fine though but just think about the Americans that aren't as intelligent or resourceful.
When intelligent people with good work ethics and marketable skills are struggling then something is seriously wrong with this country

The IT department where I currently work (a huge company you all no doubt have heard of) has 2 onsite IT employees for the entire US corporate office operation - and the rest of the IT department is outsourced to India.
This offshore IT department is totally useless. Absolutely totally useless. When I first started all of my IT requests got sent there and they couldn't fulfill the most basic tasks like granting me permission to download software or giving me access to certain platforms. To the point where I'd have to stalk one of the two onsite IT guys and hope to catch them at a good time to where they'd just do it themselves.
I'd submit an IT ticket and then at 3 in the morning would get a dozen different instant messages from the offshore India team saying something along the lines of "Hello. How is your day going? This is in regards of the installing of the R Studio. Is this a good time for you?" Then when I'd get to work at 8:30 I'd message them back and none of them would answer me. Rinse and repeat.

I guess it works to do this for these kind of jobs, but the India folks we outsourced other jobs to had zero common sense. You could try over and over to teach them, but they couldn’t think for themselves

I am not making it up at all. It's common knowledge among those of us who work in tech, IT or related fields. There is severe discrimination and nepotism.
I interviewed for a data science position at Wal Mart. Every single person I interviewed with was not only Indian, but they actually lived in India. Meaning my manager would have been living on the other side of the world.
After a brutal 4 round interview process, of course I get rejected, and the recruiter tries to get me interviews for another role. This time around it was the SAME THING. Nothing but Indians interviewing me. Extremely tough unfair interviews. Rejected again.
The recruiter once again said I was too talented of a candidate and wanted me to interview for another open role. I said no thanks this time. Not going through that bullshite a 3rd time.

Which is why I said they are like robots... they can be trained to do repetitive menial tasks, but thats it. Anything that requires soft skills, people skills, or critical thinking... nope

I had a brief stint as a tech/ STEM recruiter not too long ago, and I can tell you that we definitely need more educated Indians coming in legally.
There simply aren't enough qualified Americans - especially in HVAC, manufacturing, Engineering, and also tech.
The people kvetching about Indians getting easy visas aren't aware of the shortages IMO. It's way too difficult of a process currently. We need to close the border but make it far easier for "the best" to come in legally (with a path to citizenship).

Yep. My daughter in DFW with a computer science degree got laid off multiple times. I know McKesson wanted her to train her Indian replacement. She said know.
She's now teaching computer science (to a bunch of Indians).
McKesson turned their entire IT operations over to Tata, an Indian company.
At least 60% of McKesson's IT work force right now, on US Soil, are Indian H1B's. And it's about to be 80% next fiscal year. That does not include offshore operations in India. That's straight up asses in seats in the US doing their IT work, and it's not just the menial jobs working tickets. It's the managers and director level shite too.

Here come Rogerthe"I took an econ class one time"Shrubber to tell us that lower compensation for all American workers is actually a good thing.

My mom works for a major bank, I went to go pick her up for lunch before I moved to Florida.
Every single person I saw in the parking lot or entering/exiting the building was Indian, except for my mom. My mom has been there for 25 years... she said the only non Indians who work there are legacy employees like herself who have been there for 15+ years. She said anyone who gets hired these days is Indian. Not sure if thats because the company is doing it to save money via H1Bs, or because Indians at that bank have taken over all of the roles that do the hiring.

This comment makes me legitimately angry. When a corporation brings in 800 H1B's to work for an average $30,000 a year so you can replace your 800 perfectly competent American people who make $80,000 a year, that's not a "shortage" of skilled people. That's exploitation and it's wrong.

At least they're coming here to take the jobs.
Major companies are offshoring engineering jobs to India (ExxonMobil and Shell, for example).

So you moved from DFW to Miami. Sounds like an upgrade.
