So no steel or glass huh Bill? I guess large trees like the ones in Avatar could make pretty cool offices

So, what are they going to build them out of?

Wood? They’ll cut down forests?! I also hear wood is pretty fire resistant.

Oil-based plastics?

They should do something else like getting the bags of trash off the streets.

I've always been fascinated with wood construction so I loosely follow what's going on. There are some impressively tall buildings recently built, under construction, or in design using engineered wood. The epoxies are fire resistant and the members are much stronger than dimensional lumber but like you said. That's a frick ton of trees and you can't completely eliminate steel because of the wood to wood connections.

The tallest is in Canada at 164 feet but London has plans for 1,000 foot tower. I'm very interested to see how the final cost compares to steel construction.

NYC trying to repeat history. It liberaled itself into damn near bankruptcy in the mid/late 70's. Koch, a self described liberal with sanity, helped bring it back while Republicans/quasi-Republican's reversed it's decline into a shithhole. Bill's trying to take it back down the path to the 70's. Rinse and repeat

Issac Asimov wrote science fiction novels that included this. He may turn out to be a seer the way these liberal fools are going.

Yeah, it is, but it's mostly masonry, which is why it wasn't a total loss. Had a layover in Paris with a coworker over 15 years ago. We had used up all of our per diem so we found a cab that took credit card and we gave him our boss's and had him drive us to the front of most of the landmarks to take pictures. Didn't go inside but it's impressive and I've watched plenty of documentaries about the structure.

I'm amazed it hasn't ca

Did you see a hunchback around? He probably was trying to ring those bells with all the fire going on. The rope probably caught fire...
