Video

quote:

New York City Emergency Management posted a “nuclear preparedness PSA” on Monday, instructing residents of the Big Apple on exactly what they should do in the case of a nuclear attack on the city.

The video shows animated images of the city as emergency sirens can be heard going off in the background, and then a helpful host gives people three steps to follow if a nuke dropped: get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned.

“So there’s been a nuclear attack,” the PSA’s host says. “Don’t ask me how or why, just know that the big one has hit.”

The first step is “get inside,” specifically inside a building and stay away from windows, presuming a building is still standing with windows intact. Staying inside a car is not “inside,” according to the PSA

“If you were outside for the blast,” residents are told, “get clean immediately” by removing clothes and showering.

The last steps are to remain indoors, as close to the middle of this magically standing building as possible, and “stay tuned” by following media reports and city alerts on the fallout.

“And don’t go outside until officials say it’s safe,” the host warns.

NYC Management posted no further explanation for the video, nor any specific threats of a nuclear attack residents should be concerned about.

I think Putin might be crazy enough to try something, but I would say the odds are extremely low. It would be stupid to drop a nuke on Ukraine as it's so close to Russia so LA or New York could be an option. Would be a way better idea to hit something that would effect the retaliation in this hypothetical.

And don't forget to continue mask wearing and social distancing.

Are we sure this is legit? Where's the breathless appeal to get vaxxed/boosted?

Are you at risk if you are vaxed, boosted and

What will the nuclear blast do to our carbon footprint?? Will green new deal solve this potential crisis?

This sounds like duck and cover.

My buddy used to work for NY's office of emergency management. They have sensors around town and the ports to pick up dirty bombs. He said if something went down, the police and fire departments were supposed to evacuate the city. They made this decision in the wake of the 9-11 attacks. Can you imagine what that place will look like with not fire or law enforcement following some kind of catastrophic event? I hope the survivors burn down the whole place.

Depending on several factors it would only take 2-4 weeks for most of the fallout to clear out.

I like the stayed tuned part. Stay tuned to what? So cell service and all that will still work after a nuclear blast? That shite goes down every year for a week when a strong hurricane hits

Things that almost nobody has paid attention to in 30 years. Gee, I wonder what changed between then and today?

Even in the '80s, we never did nuclear drills in school, and fire drills were a good way to get out of class for 20 minutes.
