Trump blamed the drug problem on illegal aliens and a porous border. Never blamed people for actually putting it in their mouth,
Focus bias?

If the government hadn't then incentivized the least capable of us to have as many kids as a defacto paycheck through our broken benefit systems we wouldn't have layered institutional poverty in the areas where jobs have left or never existed (rural and depressed cities).

Why else would a republican majority Senate, House, and President be unable to create a bill they can agree on?
Too many have a vested interest in keeping things the mostly same?? Just a guess.

Big business wants it the way it is, doesnt mean its in our best interest to have it so. RINO/DNC is just there to do the bidding of those with the money. Its up to all of us to vote out those who are for the status quo and find a better way to do business.
I agree.

I am noticing the republican party doing THE EXACT SAME THING regarding rural voters. Don't misunderstand me; like african americans and other groups the dems appeal to, there does exist some systematic reasons why rural america is seeing so much rot and decline. Unbalanced trade deals, environmental and other regulations that disproportionately affect rural citizens (gas tax, for example). But in appealing to these people, who for the first time, are basically all over the country giving GOP more and more power at all levels, the GOP is abandoning some of its principles, including personal responsibility.
The irony is that the biggest issues that affect rural america are the same issues that are wrecking urban america: out of wedlock births, rampant drug and alcohol use, government dependency, and crime.
They point blank told him they were afraid of the democrats taking away their gun rights; and how hunting and the literal deer meat was the only way they were not put on government assistance and could feed their families.
These people are the working class, some work swing shifts in Lordstown, Ohio auto plants. Folks tend to bash them but they make 33 dollars an hour and have damned good union benefits. In todays economy 33 dollars an hour isn't what it used to be. They are not drug user baby maker white and black trash hillbillies that produced the wall of red votes for Trump.
They are hard working people that used to be respected. Children of the children of the brave heroes of WWII, raised to not belly ache and work their butts off. During the depression people helped each other, back when a cup of sugar was worth the value of your 36,000 dollar automobile. No one wondered about fluid sexes of their babies or who slept with whom in gay orgies. It was, do unto others as you would have done to yourself.
Section eight housing and the projects are a completely different story. This epidemic of government dependency needs to stop. If Ben Carson can't fix it---nobody can.

No successful politician will ever succeed now or in the future by blaming people for their own problems. If you blame someone for their own problems, they see you as a villain and will work against you, instead of seeing a chance for personal responsibility. It's the unfortunate truth with the way people think, specifically in our current culture.
Hence why politicians suck up to groups like BLM, which blames white people and police for all the problems in the black community, while ignoring the harsh personal realities of fatherless children, government dependence, and thug culture. We can't change the way the US works until we convince people to have personal responsibility. How we do that, I have no idea

There is absolutely zero either party can do to change what are cultural issues. Sessions wants to push ineffectual DARE again to address the drug issues and it will be just as worthless this time around. What's the point of bringing up issues, as a politician, if you can offer no solutions, as a polictican?

Problem is, "out of wedlock births, rampant drug and alcohol use, government dependency, and crime" is not exclusive to rural America.

I heard a Trump message as "stop voting dem because they are clearly not working for your interests and give me a try. I will bring jobs back."
A little different than the "free shite + Obama phones" that the Dems promise to AA constituents.
