In Chile, pope Francis defends bishop accused of sexual abuse, demands proof

Pope Francis appeared to strongly defend a Chilean bishop accused of covering up a priest’s sexual abuse of young boys just days after meeting and weeping with survivors.
“The day they bring me proof against Bishop [Juan] Barros, then I will speak,” Francis said when a journalist asked about the 61-year-old bishop, appointed by him in 2015, despite the cover up accusations. “There is not a single piece of proof against him. This calumny [or slander]. Is this clear?”
Hmmmm, I wonder if he expects photos, videos or what exactly would qualify as 'proof.' Stellar week for good ol' Francis!

Really, do specify what type of 'proof' you think these folks should be able to come up with. Videos from inside the confessional, photos taken by others in the room at the time, what?!?!

The claim is that the bishop covered for the priest who committed the crime!
This doesn't mean they are saying the priest did nothing. I think the Pope is saying he wants to see proof of a coverup...not proof of the abuse..
