The frick are you smoking. Phelan was elected by a vote of 145-3.

Smoking absolutely nothing. Once Phelan had the 55 Dems any other R would have needed near unanimous party support which was impossible.

I suggest you actually dig into what was going on before asking what people are smoking.

A Paxton aligned PAC infused $3 million into Patrick's campaign in June. He doesn't run again until 2025.

I wonder what they were buying.

Without Patrick as judge Paxton would have been cooked.

I’m sure his response would be a drawling Jack Daniels inflected rant.

Changing the judge wouldn’t have changed that there was no “there” there.

They weren’t buying anything.

It was a donation; that’s how PACs work.

Specifically in this case, a sizable amount of that money went towards sending text messages to GOP voters, urging them to call their senators to stop the impeachment trial before it began.

That’s not free.

Patrick also received just as much from “the other side,” including donors aligned with Texans for Lawsuit Reform—an outspoken enemy of Paxton.

Patrick declined to comment on the $3 million when it was received, as he was under a gag order ahead of the Paxton trial.

Newsflash: Democrats operate PACs too. They’re a huge part of how all politicians raise campaign funds. But you know that.

I’m strongly thinkin’ the term Republican doesn’t work anymore—at least not for one-half of the GOP.

I’d like to see a Constitutionalist Party emerge (see TEA Party); I know I no longer identify as a member of the feckless Republican Party.

Considering you have been ranting constantly that this was going to be a slam dunk and how guilty Paxton was, you are the one who sounds airheaded whining that it was a compromised judge and not a complete and total lack of any actual charges that could result in a conviction.

What a fricking cuck.

He should have been shitcanned for that alone.

BTW, Louisiana’s Speaker of the House did the same thing to get all of the Democrats to support him for Speaker. fricking slimy cocksucker.

Patrick reported a $1 million donation and $2 million from Defend Texas Liberty PAC, a group that had led the charge to attack House Republicans who voted to impeach Paxton. A leader with the PAC later threatened political revenge against any senator who sided against Paxton in his trial.

Indeed. If anything, I feel more like I'm opposed to anything the GOPe ever even proposes these days. It's getting tough to blur the lines - so I agree. Let's split it up and let the chaos really ensue.
