If we can seal the border, what should our immigration policy be?
In the 19th and early to mid 20th century legal immigration worked well for the most part.
Would you support immigration numbers that matched labor needs or allowed for those who can assimilate and become productive citizens, as we’ve done in the past?

Of course. You just can’t have unfettered and unvetted access to the US.

For you to ask this question means you have somewhat of a soul left.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone IRL, or on here, have any issues with legal immigration. The problem is with millions pouring in, unchecked, unvetted, and not going through the process for obtaining legal citizenship.

Before you legally step foot on American soil, every immigrant must be able to read and speak English at an 8th grade level.

That's the first necessary rule for any sort of legal immigration or asylum bullshite.

A slow trickle of the brightest minds from around the world is great. Unregulated mass exodus of the starving poor and criminal element to our border is a death sentence for American ideals and values

Our immigration process should most definitely be streamlined and an overall easier experience. Yes, the gov should be selective and thorough but the lists and waiting periods should be drastically truncated whenever possible, to allow genuinely good people willing to work and create a better life for themselves and their families to get their chance in a far less protracted process.

And our border, simultaneously, should absolutely be 100% sealed and heavily monitored. The eff bee eye is still arresting people for merely lawfully attending the J6 demonstration based on grainy low-res photos from two blocks away and they'll still track you down in Hisle, SD... but they tell us that it's impossible to secure the border we share with a wholly corrupt country.

Great googly moogly. This is what conservatives have been saying all along.

Legal and controlled immigration is a good thing.

Now… for the law breakers. They can stay, but because of their mistakes, they can only achieve permanent residency and will never be allowed citizenship. If they’d like citizenship they may voluntarily leave and return and use the legal system.

This does not apply to those convicted of additional crimes. They get to go home.

I’d like us to let more immigrants in…

BUT

I’d also like us to send people out. Cities and countries used to banish people back in the day. We need to take those dregs of society that have no hope of rehabilitation, revoke their citizenship and send them to Somalia or North Korea.

1. Learn how to speak English before you enter, learn it in your home country to “see how committed you are”.

2. Quit giving immigrants a 10-year tax free system. I could be way off on that or maybe it’s if they open a business! I knew some Arab dudes growing up and they would brag about it, but not confirmed on my end.

3. Charge transactional fees on money they are sending out of the country or have limits on it. Can’t live here and ship all your money back home, need to be a productive citizen recycling the economy.

4. Must have a clean record

If you meet all of that, I think the person is committed enough.

But of Course, would be nicer like other countries to have that person have a certain net worth.

The overall worldwide population has gone up, the ease of transportation has gone up,so I wouldn't do it exactly like the 19th century.

But with some tweaks, of course immigration is fine. Should be faster, probably a bit more in depth, and there should be caps and requirements. But yes on legal, controlled immigration.

Some solid ideas above.

You need to have the ability to be self-sufficient and actually contribute to society. We have enough potential day laborers fricking around in Home Depot parking lots.

We don’t need mass immigration at the moment. We need to have a selective immigration process that focuses on skills of need. The flip side is, the process needs to become MUCH less bureaucratic and faster.

It needs to begin and end at the US Embassy in their home country, too. More rigorous deportation of illegals with getting popped here automatically putting a 10 year penalty on trying to do it the right way afterwards.

Our society and economy is 100% dependent upon imported poor labor. Think of the “American Dream” as one big Ponzi scheme where the ditch diggers go from the out house to the pent house because some other sucker decided to come here and take their chance at ditch digging.

1. 6 week quarantine period. Line them up, medically check them for disease , ticks and fleas. Include lice as well. You get the shots, like it or not.

2.During the six week term.....a steady diet of English lessons. Turn on the TV and coach while they learn.

Mess up one time, could careless if the Cartel is waiting for you at gate.

Some “conservatives have objected to immigration reform without severe restrictions on certain groups. It’s not hard to guess which groups, but there was a chance at reform during W’s presidency that was killed by righties who wanted to almost eliminate Latino immigrants entirely.

Considering we are a first world country the policy should have used the Billions of dollars now spent on the illegal shitebag do nothings on the good people that wanted a better life for them and their family.
Processed in a timely manner would be nice as well.
What’s being done now is a slap in the face of every immigrant who came through the original process, not to mention the Americans who have a family and would like to keep them safe.
Never would have imagined seeing something like this happening in my lifetime. Especially considering the amount of terrorist country’s with people who hate us .
