Benny Johnson is a biased source. This a really high number, but it is misleading stat. Over 70% of all Americans have received at least one type of welfare at some point in their life.
It’s not talking about illegal immigrants getting welfare it’s talking about how their US born children get these type of benefits. We have around 4.6 million children in the US born to legal and illegal immigrants. That means about 2.7 million kids are getting welfare.
Iegal and illegal immigrants can’t get federally funded Medicaid, SNAP, or cash welfare, but their children can if they were born in the US.
Just like US citizens illegals can get tax refunds if they pay taxes, but can’t get SS benefits even though they pay in. Legal immigrants can receive SS benefits if they pay into SS long enough. They can pay into a 401k and get health insurance.

Needs to be a constitutional amendment that any sort of welfare program requires citizenship for the recipient. If you’re here on a green card and can’t financially support yourself, you have to go back. Illegals getting welfare to begin with is asinine.

For the Medicaid part it's only for the citizen children, so the household may be 5 people, but if only 3 are citizens then those are the only 3 getting Medicaid. Likewise, and if I am wrong on this happy to retract, but SNAP benefits are given on a per person who qualifies basis, so using that example the amount the household is given isn't for a household of 5 but for a household of 3 based on only 3 people in it qualifying. So the illegal parents aren't getting extra money than what the 3 children would be receiving regardless of their parents' status.
It's misleading because CIS wanted those numbers to be higher so they named it "illegal lead household" to imply that the illegals were receiving the benefits and not the US citizen children in that household.

FWIW that is the law already. Trump in both terms has ramped up the requirements to demonstrate that a person won't be a "public charge."

If the program is receiving federal funds they legally aren't supposed to be. Now since the state administers the programs I'm sure some do. Think some states, like California, may have totally state funded programs that don't care about status.
