Well we've seen the dramatic decline resulting from four years of absolute ineptitude, and these people would still rather vote for a word salad Hindu with room-temperatyre IQ than anyone else.
I believe we have already passed the event horizon of "civilized resolution". Next step is very uncomfortable to even talk about, but it's going to have to occur.

It never was that important to begin with really. Or not meant to be.
POTUS and Congress have a lot less control over what goes on in your life than you may think. It's much better to be concerned about and work in your local political environment instead.
Your local affects your life a lot more. Yet, because it's not as quickly available to read about it in the news and therefore usually less dramatic, it's easy to stay out of the forefront of your mind.
Also, you'll notice the more local it is to you, the harder it is for you to jump through hoops to make a personal impact.

It's probably good to "check out" and then vote when the time comes. Even Fox is giddy and excited about posting pictures of Kamala's smiling mug on their website. So if you truly ignore the fluff you will be better for it.
