My wife teaches Nigerian children. They are the most wonderful people to deal with. Hard working parents with engaged kids who study hard and respect their teachers.

Congrats! Nigerian immigrants are one of the most successful groups in the country both in terms of education and income. Typically because they are thrilled to be here and live the American dream. Glad to have you!

My friend's (white) mother married a black man from Nigeria. He was hilarious and gave not two fricks about the blacks in BR and loathed them so much that he moved them far away.

My DNA report says I'm 1.2% Nigerian, so I say welcome, brother!
I figured I'd have it easy because people have viewed me as white all of my 40+years here. I'm supposed to have "white privilege". I'm supposed to be able to freely impose my white dominance on all other races. I'm supposed to be inherently superior in every way, to everyone, and that superiority is supposed to grant me no harassment from crooked cops, a silver spoon to eat my name brand cereals and caviar, and I'm supposed to be freely able to walk around with an undeserved sense of accomplishment while everything difficult to come by in life is handed to me without even asking or working for it.
However, I'm sorry to break it to you brother... but apparently all that is seen when people look at me is my 1.2% Nigerian. Nothing has ever been given to me, I grew up so poor that "poor as dirt" would have been a 5 star hotel, I was frequently called "white trash" (weird because, you know, that 1.2%
), I was constantly harassed by white local cops from the "good ol boy" system, and I literally had to work my arse off just to be able to eat and stay warm in the winter.
This "white boy" got skipped over when they handed out the privilege cards. If you're more than 1.2% minority, I extend my advance condolences because you're fricked.

Sorry to hear about your struggles my brother. So far my experience has been extremely positive, could be the fact I live in a semi uppity suburban utopia with +75% of the people being mostly white or of some European descent.
