Snap as a cash incentive should end.
FEMA can finally have a task! Establish in every US county a warehouse that will distribute necessities. Local social service agencies can distribute to those lacking mobility. Healthy, surplus foods instead of funds....

Im am so sick of these motherfrickers: "Im a conservative but.." "I'm a hunter but..." we get it youre a pussy. Fact is SNAP is used to buy unhealthy foods, it is used to purchase drugs and alcohol, and is sold on the streets for cash.

No, we are conservatives. Just because you are more left doesn't mean the rest of us are "old time hard line". Conservatism doesn't adjust it's values depending on the time of year. You do, apparently.

SNAP/Food Stamps should be for emergency/desperation only. Not a lifestyle, as others have said. You have to motivate people to work. Hunger is a great motivator.

Sorry, youtube videos of welfare queens and kings threatening to rob stores if food stamps are cutoff doesn't move the needle for me back to the other side. It reinforces exactly WHY these policies need to be reigned in in the first place.

We are broken as a society. The last thing we need to do is pull the rug out without a good back up plan and proper guidance.

Charities exist for a reason. The US government is not a charity, despite idiotic thinking that it is.

By definition, recipients of SNAP are not paying into the tax system.
Hold the Dems feet to the fire on this, as Republicans are always the bad guy and throwing grandma off the cliff. Republicans will be cast yet again as the bad guy, well this time, be the bad guy, they going to say it anyway.

In addition, these non-paying SNAP recipients will now have "Skin in the game". They probably will not focus on their representatives for this as they can't plan or foresee more than a day or two into their future.

Why is government assistance the only form of "charity" in your mind?

Government's attempts to "fix" things is a big part of the problem.

When government susidizes something to make it more "affordable" it always makes costs go up.

They've done it with tuition.

They've done it with healthcare.

They've done it with housing.

There isn’t enough accurate data on the subject of which party benefits from government assistance. But I’d say both parties rely on it. And it will drastically hurt the population if they don’t have the assistance. You or someone you know is likely on these benefits.

Id say it’s Pennie’s on the $ compared to the rich and wealthy not paying their fair share in taxes or benefiting from loop holes in the system. For instance Jeff Bezos actually only pays around 1.1% in taxes after everything is said and done. So, take it for what it is.

You and I don’t pay much for in a year for government assistance for others.

This will be resolved quickly. Not because either party really gives a shite about poor people but they give plenty of shits about Walmart and CocaCola.

It's nowhere close.

Government is force and coercion. It can't hand one dime to one unless it takes from another.

Governments don't have souls so they don't have to be morally good and do good works like charity. That's not a thing in the government realm.

Charity can only be delivered by an individual human being.

There definitely needs to be some reform with that whole system. No one can deny that it isn't really working as it was intended. However, some people are acting like this will only affect Democrats. Sure there may more of them, but a lot of Republicans won't be too happy about this either and I'm sure some of them vote.

There is a conservative argument for SNAP or food assistance, but it runs through private hands which will be corrupted.

The next few years will present some hard choices for real conservatives.
