While I can understand why something like this considered it would create havoc on people that come from places like Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit and so on. It’s not that they aren’t American citizens but rather cannot read, write or speak clearly. It’s the outcome of democrat public education control.

I don't know if I believe that. That would be nice but I don't know how it's going to work b/c so many foreigners are driving through Arkansas in big rigs. i-40 and i-30 is a major Eastcoast/ Westcoast thorofare that also goes to Texas/Mexico. Most these big rig crashes are caused by foreigners. The state is trying to pass a bill on it but I don't see it passing. Seems like that would be federal jurisdiction since those interstates go through multiple states.

I support what Arkansas is enforcing. Go hawgs.

I had a long response which may read hypocritical/ funny after this first line. I've kept it anyway.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm generally supportive of this.... Driving is a privilege after all -- Commercial driving even more so.

But they don't want to check my handwriting.

What's a pass, should it be in cursive or will print do?

And there is the rub. Many are fine being able to read / identify any traffic signs and messages for driving. They can sign there name where instructed by law enforcement with the 'This is not an admission of guilt - just show up'

This seems a little excessive.

The question is how did they ever get a CDL if they can do none of those things?

I can't read German, but I got my first USAREUR (US Army Europe) driver's license in my 20s way back in 98 or 99.

I can't read Dutch, but I drove a car for 3 weeks in Holland in 1985, long before GPS was a thing.

You get on CDL test prep app. Memorize the test bank in native language..test will be administered in the language you speak. Go to johnnys test center hand him his fee he issues your CDL. Bunch of stupid Americans get their CDL the same way.

With the number of truck drivers I deal with in a weekly basis in Arkansas, I’m not sure I buy this. However I would support this if it were the case. Really sucks when you can’t explain something to a truck driver cause they just don’t comprehend.

Carry a passport and you won't have any problems.

Going between El Paso and up I-25, I run into these checks often. Glad to see they're doing them.

All American citizens should have a passport. Otherwise, you are subject to these kind of checks.

The trade agreement, Mexico’s / America’s first allowed border crossing by Mexican truckers up into Texas only . It wasn’t long before the Mexican carriers had full access into America and Canada with a Mexican CDL and are some of the largest carriers of all. They are not getting training inside America and are but a occupant in a seat. Now that illegals have crossed into America the largest American truck lines hire them as they are much cheaper to employ.
