Why not the USA. We need to become self sufficient as a country

Vietnam killed a lot of our Fathers, Uncles, etc ... and are one of the worst persecutors of Christians. I avoid their products too. I'm good with The Philippians. I think if we turn India into a world power like we did China, we will regret it.

Companies are already moving to India and Mexico.

There are a lot of low skill things that we don’t need to be manufacturing here. If we did, they would cost 10 times as much as we currently pay

It is already happening and has been for a while. There is lots of cheap labor in the world that don't come with so many cheats, restrictions and IP theft.

but other stuff clothes etc have to come from somewhere else
Why is that?

Mexico is a disaster. It would be nice, but who would want to send their employees there?

Everybody needs to work. Low skilled people work low skilled jobs.

We need more domestic robotic manufacturing.
Being old, I remember when the South had a great many textile factories. Almost all are gone now and vanished when tariffs on India were dropped.
However, there is one in NC that still works and produces superior products. It is highly robotic. It still takes people to feed it, maintain it and sell the products.

Mexican labor is actually pretty good. We'll put the mid-grade labor in Mexico and the low-end stuff in Colombia. It's already happening.

We don't need to pay Americans $30/hr to make paper plates or stuffed animals. Let Colombia do that shite.

frick India. Mexico or other Western Hemisphere nations.

We don't have the labor required. Hell, its hard to find construction labor as it is for real industrial work.

I think you will see the GOPe move toward India and in the long run turn yet another country into a Super Power who will turn their backs on us.
India is very different from China. It’s a democracy, most importantly. The main factor you are ignoring is that many industries can be repatriated to the USA. These are manufacturing industries that used to be manually intensive but can now be mostly automated. The advantage of cheap labor is minimized.

Mexico is the answer - just not with this administration.

Cut off the able bodied people who sit on their arse and collect a check from the government.
BAM, there’s your workforce.

Deglobalization. It's happening right before our eyes. America will have to start producing again.
Posted on 4/6/23 at 6:29 pm to Tusksup
cost ... math ... as I already posted, people NOW still buy lower priced items from China when there are alternatives. The objective is not to end international markets ... the goal should be to end the supply chains from countries who hate us.

Mexico.
Mexico can do a lot of stuff cheaper and better but China props its industries up and creates an unsustainable race to the bottom. China is in a tough spot right now. They need Biden or the next prez to back down or to get more swing with the EU.

None, we should manufacture what we need here.
