This ain't 1861 with Mexico fighting a French army in the center of the country
Your right its not 1861. The South has 10X the relative economic power now as it did then. Pop 130 Mill, GPD $9.4T good for 3rd place globally. Mexico wouldn't last 10 days.
This is also the same reason a civil war would leave all of North America a crater. The two sides have much more parity in both military and eco power. That and given modern weapons you are looking at a catastrophic war. That would go global.

I don’t see why we couldn’t retain our individual sovereignties and come together militarily in times of war like the Greek City-States.
Because if we all "hate" each other to split, that wouldn't work.

The strength of the United States of America, is that we respect and value opposing ideals, cultures, religions, etc. The day we give up is the day this world will go to shite!
USA! USA! USA!
USA! USA! USA!

Lol. So you want to ally with a leftist country?
Plus, we're already allies with many leftist countries.

No. America would be weakened and World War III would erupt.
China would pull a 1920s-1930s Japan and make a move on the entire Indo-Pacific.
Russia would push further into Eastern Europe.
Nations without nuclear weapons will be bullied by those who do. South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, in particular, had better be developing these.

We just need to skull frick the extreme minority into submission and start setting the tone as the majority and stop being pussies.
The rest of these people are probably illegals and need to be sent back to whatever shithole they came from

There are lots of problems with your map.
Virginia for starters. It's not the old confederacy anymore and VA has been a reliably blue state in Federal elelections. Norfolk is the largest naval base on the East Coast.
Colorado and New Mexico are blue states. Democrats in the governor and the Senate in Colorado with major interests in DOD infrastructure especially in Colorado. New Mexico is a Democrat stronghold and has been for decades.
Minnesota. A reliably Democrat state. Last time it did not vote Democrat was 1972. They were heavy liberal before the Somalis showed up in the late 90s.
Alaska would be cut off and probably lobby to join Canada.... and why not, in this scenario since there are no longer strong advantages to belonging to any of the new formerly US nations. Maybe lobby to join Pacifica due to proximity. Also. Who will control the Great Lakes? Your two biggest battlegrounds would be North Carolina and Nevada/AZ. If Nevada/AZ were to join with Pacifica along CO and NM.....game over Pacifica dictates with Utah as a vassal region
Naval assets and AF assets. San Diego, Puget Sound, Pearl are home to carriers and components of the fleet. Norfolk in VA which would join the New England country would be gone as would be Philadelphia Naval Shipyards as well as the sub bases in Connecticut and Rhode Island. The Southern country does not have strong naval assets or infrastructure. Mayport in Florida is not a home to fleet operations.
Airforce assets are scattered. Most important is Wright Patterson north of Cincinnati in the Midwest country. Edwards in CA but then you have some interesting locations. Nellis is in Nevada near the CA line. LUKE is in AZ between Phoenix and CA. Eglin is in the South.
Army assets are scattered as well. Ft. Drum in NY. Ft Ord in Colorado ....Joint Base Lewis McCord in the Seattle area. Belvoir is in VA and Meade just north of DC. Ft Bragg in NC Ft Hood in TX
The only clear disadvantage the Southern states have is on Naval assets....but that is big. Navy has quality air power.
Divorces are messy and generally leaves both parties in a worse state than before said divorce.

I think we need to have an honest conversation, with these two themes as starting points:
- Divorce would be messy if possible at all, weaken both sides, create issues around the world, impact daily lives, etc.
- That aside, it is absolutely absurd to live in a country with 350 million people spread out over vast geography and where increasingly a sizable portion wants nothing to do with the historical basis for the existence of the country they reside in.

There were no " salad days" for the Confederacy if that is what you were asking. Confederacy always knew that secession would not be peaceful.....they counted on armed conflict

A house divided would be easier pickings for those houses not so.

The Republic of Texas wants all their land back, we'll let you south easterners come along if you deport some culcha!

Has anyone mentioned that the largest economies in the USA are all located in blue cities? Or do the people who want to divorce from them think that’s not a factor worth considering?
I can think of two huge reasons why "divorce" would be impossible and I am sure there are many more that I'm not smart enough to think of. Your post is basically dovetailing with the economic impossibility I mentioned.
I understand why people want this. And people on both sides want it.
Who wants to fight all the time? Not me. But it's just not going to happen.
It can't.
We gotta figure something else out. So yeah, I'm with you.

Why would you desire to share a border with Cuba or South Africa?
This country is blessed with every resource necessary to be great. Look at what Commies have done to California, Chicago and all the other cities run by a Communist Major.

Democrats would never want this.
Where would all the criminals go?
To the side where all the people have guns and would be strict on criminals or to the side where they can steal and murder with impunity.
Then you factor in farmers, who voted around 75% for Trump.
It would make for a great Fallout game though and playing as the Republicans would be the easy difficulty setting.

100%. He'll yes. Not even a moment of hesitation.
We're going to either split amicably or tear ourselves apart in civil war and end up split anyway. I prefer the option where Americans don't die en masse.
Will never happen though. The Establishment puppet masters need a population at odds and at war with one another. It keeps the majority of us distracted from seeing what our overlords are doing to us.
