Texans would pay less taxes overall though hopefully.

In addition, I could see a mass migration of minorities out of the state.

Unfortunately, this is all moot with the breadth and depth of government/corporate surveillance. Key leaders behind any secession movement would be snuffed out or imprisoned before the movement could reach critical mass.

My heart would be with Texas, but I'd place the bet with the US in terms of who wins in the end.

I wouldn't. The US is dying and already losing badly to China.

You keep thinking the world wouldn't intervene. They would, as breaking up the Union would forever end the US's global hegemony. China desires that above all else.

China and Russia and others would throw everything they have to help Texas and stabilize the new nation in such a situation.

They would also use the distraction to expand their own territory with no resistance.

The democrats don't have the stones to start WW3. And if a republican is in charge then it is a moot point as Texas wont leave to begin with.

If a group of millions of people peacefully voted for sovereignty and the US responded violently, other world powers would intervene.

That’s a hopelessly naive take.
A lot of other countries are all on board with globalization and they won’t allow Texas to mess that up.

What other country will intervene to protect Texas independence against the US.

Hopefully Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and about 40+ other states would join them.

Why the hell would Texas want all these welfare states to leave with them?

Texas would immediately ally with Russia and China. They would move their nukes in gleefully.

Does Texas really want to immediately be allied with fricking China???

And, China already owns DC, they probably don’t want Independent Texas either.

Texas would get crushed by the federal government. CIA would be sabotaging shite all over Texas. Military industrial complex would send firearms and missiles to leftist groups in Austin and Houston.

Basically everything our government does to overthrow middle eastern countries, will be used on Texas.

Texas wouldn't even have foreign support. Because no country would risk pissing off our federal government.

The bigger question in my mind regarding Texas is:

If they did it, would Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma allow the US government to use their states to base their operations of attack against Texas or would those states refuse and take up arms with Texas?

Oklahoma, all "Horns Down" aside, would not allow it. Most of the land is Indian reservation and they wouldn't allow it. Louisiana though? Depends who is in the seat of power. New Mexico is a toss up.

Yep. Too many Don Quixotes tilting at windmills. Texas almost elected Beto for frick's sake.

Texas will be blue within 6 years.
