If two men can get married, why stop there?

Societies and religions instituted this institution called "marriage" for thousands of years, for very specific reasons. It wasn't just some arbitrary thing.
But since, now we are are going to be in pretend land, that somehow two men can form a union and create a family together... why not just allow anything to be a marriage?
Someone should be allowed to marry themselves and recieve the same tax benefits. Or marry inanimate objects, animals, or enter Polygamous marriages. I don't see how there can be a limiting principle, if we are to take what they say at their word.

Besides the obvious flaws in your analogies, what exactly do you propose, other than whining on a message board. You’ve identified what you believe to be a problem without establishing a foundation or at he very least a proposed solution..

I would propose people "test" the system, and force them to make sense of their distorted principles.
Get a bunch of single individuals to apply for self marriage, to recieve the same tax benefits. They have already turned marriage into a clown show, just accelerate the circus with absurd forms of marriage.

It is highly likely that whatever is riding around in those UFOs are asexual and having little need for any 'bottom up' family structure, as they depend on their highly advanced technology to ensure their survival and prosperity. As AI and Transhumanism SOON becomes the bigger 'dilemma' re Humanity, it is likely that things like 'marriage' as a bedrock of human society will become a moot issue. The opportunity to "upgrade" and essentially become 'perfect' and relatively immortal will be far too intoxicating and 'logical' for most not to embrace it. The larger and absolute, overriding issue will become the definition and criteria by which Good and Evil are defined, (assuming such exists) as the impetus for Spiritual and Worldly societal principle and action.

God has one. America is broken, and needs to repent (change one’s mind and direction) and believe upon the Word of God over the word of man. Only Christ has the ability to change man’s heart and broken life and turn it into something functional, hopeful, and sane, and for His glory. We need to look to our creator.
When something is broken and you’ve done everything you can think of to fix it but all for nothing, you eventually turn to the owners manual or place a call to the help desk for technical support. But it seems when it comes to ourselves, we are perfectly content with rationalizing the broken mess, and our reluctance to ask for help.

Two individuals acting disordered behind closed doors is not really the issue. People have the right to engage in all kinds of vices.
The issue is the fact governments promote this behavior, and even subsidize the behavior with my tax dollars, as something to be held up and aspired towards.
We are not just individuals floating on our own islands. We live in communities and societies. Our current culture promotes disordered behavior that results I'm disease and despair, and cannot create more children, which should be the essential purpose of marriage.

I would say that should be the next step for red states. Just eliminate the entire thing altogether. It doesn't serve a purpose from a government standpoint any longer, and there is no need to specifically subsidize it.
Just let people form legal contracts, and then they can choose to get married in their Church if they would like.

The fact is that divorce laws make what we call 'marriage' today a risky terrible deal for men when analysed from a business point of view.
If someone approached you with a business opportunity that had a 50% average failure rate, and you were guaranteed to lose half of your net worth and your relationship with your children,
would you be enthusiastic about that?

I agree. Once the term 'marriage' is deliberately altered and destroyed to encompass the demented farce of two dudes or two dames, it really no longer has barriers. The same arguments can indeed extend to animals, inanimate objects, multiples of dozens if not hundreds. The term has jettisoned both its meaning and meaningfulness. Just another dead letter in a country that has degraded all its institutions.
