USAID was not created to afford people retirement money that was withheld from their checks each week. It’s apples and oranges. What happened to USAID needed to. You want to fund legit programs overseas, run it through the state department. It’s the government, they are ingrained in corruption so I don’t know what a permanent clean fix

Spoiler: we aren't cutting non-military spending to $0 and cutting the military budget anywhere close to 50%.
Cut ALL the agencies to $0 AND cut the military spending in HALF AND account for the $236B in fraud and we still run a deficit.
Some estimates have the fraud at double that. If you double it with those insane cuts (which won't happen), we're close to 0 deficit.
*ETA: the 2024 breakdown likely will have close to a $200B expansion in the deficit, which puts us in the hole if you double that waste number.

When there were surpluses in the SS Trust Fund, the money went to the general fund. Boomers like me are dying out quickly. At least the pool of recipients is getting smaller in the near term..

What if they come back and say they found all the missing funds, recalculated everyone's total deposits and the growth of investments, and corrected the balance sheets. As a result, everyone on SS is getting a 25% increase in their monthly checks.

You are correct. AND if they start lining up all the clergy in the country and shooting them in the streets they will lose a lot of votes. OR if they have the military go around and burn peoples houses, they will lose a lot of votes. OR if they give Hawaii to China they will lose a lot of votes. Or if they have the Air Force attack the army bases and kill a lot of soldiers they will lose a lot of votes.
