If Teenagers Are Too Young to Purchase a Firearm, They're Definitely Too Young to Vote

If it were possible, I'd like to see this go all Starship Troopers on this at least for 18 year old's voting.

If Teenagers Are Too Young to Purchase a Firearm, They're Definitely Too Young to Vote
quote:
On July 5, 1971, then-President Richard Nixon signed the 26th Amendment into law, officially lowering the voting age in all U.S. elections from 21 to 18. Finally, a movement that began in earnest after 18-year-olds not eligible to vote were drafted into service in World War II, then intensified with Korea and Vietnam, was constitutionally codified. No more would our young people be demanded to serve their country while at the same time denied the right to have a voice in its political process. If they were old enough to fight, they were old enough to vote, the logic went, and back then it was certainly hard to argue against it with either your head or your heart.

Most kids these days are too young to leave their parents basement before 30.

I'd add raise the age to join the military or police departments to 21.

Join the service = Earned voting rights.

Its great we are using the Voting age in this counter balance, but we need to really make sure the grooming gay/transition stuff is added too. That will show how f'd up the demoncrats are.

I agree with everything being said about raising the ages; however, THIS would put a big dent in our troop numbers.

I said the same thing several years ago and got downvoted to hell.
Hopefully people have seen the immaturity and naivety of 18-21 year olds today.
They have little to no real-world experience (with some exceptions).

Add to that:
2. Own Property
3. Have a job that has withholding tax withheld (Be a taxpayer).
Nobody else.

There are only 12 states that you can become a police officer before age 21, and most of them forbid carrying a gun until 21.

I say age 25 minimum for voting, but Vietnam and the military draft gave us age 18.

And? Bad decisions usually have bad consequences. I couldn't care less at this point about our troop numbers.

If they’re old enough to have rights taken away taken by legislation, they’re old enough to vote.
There. That’s settled.

BOOM ... raise the voting age !
Posted on 6/6/22 at 8:28 pm to xiv
How about we focus on rights not being taken away period.
There, that's settled!
You should be allowed to join the military at 18 (or any age), but not see any combat until at least 3 yrs of service/training have been completed.
Raise all adult based ages to 21 (voting, drinking, taking on loans, etc.).
