JBE shouldn’t even be close if you look at his tax increases, trial lawyer support and numerous schemes.

Rispone was my man from the git go but he is not a professional politician.

I wonder if Strain or Kennedy or Scalise had run would we even have had a runoff. They didn’t want the job or somebody bought them to stay out of the race.

I don’t remember reading a single negative thing about JBE from the local media. Not one. They’ve dropped the pretense and joined the national propaganda MSM.

Kennedy would have won easily. Abraham would have won. People are stupid and fell for Abraham loved HRC BS.

Of the three you mention I think Scalise was the biggest threat to JBE and Kennedy maybe a close second.

The thing is, if any of them are actually interested in running for governor, it'll be open again in 2023. These top tier candidates chose to wait it out to avoid the hassle and possible loss of prestige- or in Strain's case, loss of a job. Although I don't think Strain would have been a very strong candidate.

Kennedy deserves mention though. I think he is too old, didn't want to run, and wanted to keep his safe Senate seat. Who can blame him? He's going to be 68 years old in a few days. He didn't want an exhausting statewide campaign, followed by 4 or 8 exhausting years of budget battles and squabbles as governor, leaving office at age 76. 76! No way. Compare that to his life in D.C. He has no executive responsibility and is in an elite position where he can make verbal potshots anytime he wants. The stress and aggravation is much, much less. He has a very safe seat and can run one more time in 2022, and then either serve out that no-pressure term, or retire at any point he feels like it.

I can't believe people thought Kennedy was really serious about running for governor. I never thought he was really considering it.

I'd say illusion politics would be more attached to a guy actually having a chance to win without a single idea or agenda

JBE getting re-elected would be a function of his allies and war chest rather than any accomplishments he had.

Neither Rispone nor Abraham are an A list candidate. And Rispone could still beat him in spite of that.

Imagine what Kennedy, Landry, or others could have done if they had tried instead.

John Neely Kennedy was a blue dog Democrat just like John Bell and Mary Landrieu. He put an R by his name because he knew it would help him in this state.
He campaigned for John Kerry and Al Gore.

When he only needs a third of the white vote, it's not that difficult to win. He's riding Trump's solid national economy with the feelings that imparts and there is no La crisis right now, just the typical #49 and #50 rankings people have become accustomed to. If it was a Republican incumbent, he would be reelected as well.

I wouldn't trust him locally, but he's doing what we wanted in DC.

I get that, but he has run a terrible campaign. He's received terrible advice/guidance.

The fact that he's so close despite this is a testament to just how terrible Edwards is.

Neither is Trump. He's doing a helluva job though.
