re: If homosexuals are “born that way”

Isolated twin studies call that assumption to question.
What about taking some gays and lesbians and cloning them using in vitro into a random double blind sample of women? If 100% of the clones are gay in 20 years, then the DNA argument is proven.
I suspect that there are other factors and only about 10% of the clones would be gay/lesbian.

It would depend on where you raised them. A person is far more likely to be gay raised in Manhattan than Utah.

People make weird choices all the time. Not sure why this would be surprising in this case only.
I have a friend whose mom is addicted to gambling and has $150k in gambling debt. Who would choose that? Her. She would choose that.

Some teens choose to identify as gay or trans for popularity. It’s not something that ostracizes you like 40 years ago.

All men (and women) are predisposed to sin. People are predisposed more to some sins than others. These particularly tenacious sins can create strongholds in our soul and are impossible to be rid of by willpower alone.
These strongholds can only be overcome with the help of a power greater than ourselves and our sin.
I personally know two people, a man and a woman, who asked the help of God to relieve them of the sin of homosexuality, and now lead normal heterosexual lives.
Homosexuality is a choice.

I never implied is wasn’t a choice. Everything is ultimately a choice, but there are still factors that influence those choices.

40 years ago I'd agree. In the current culture, it's celebrated.

If it doesn't affect you then who gives a shite? I'm with the libertarians here.
There's a reason conservatives lose elections when they make this the focus. You want to look down on it or agree that it doesn't fit your religion? Great. Don't get the government involved and don't force your opinions on those that do. Same goes for the other side.

Anyone care to explain this to me?
Not going to go through the whole thread, I’m sure my answer is in there along with some simple, angry answers. But here goes:
I don’t know if any other evidence has come out over the years, but some of the early research pointed to genes on the X chromosome, and this also relates to “the selfish gene.”
Males have only one X chromosome. A male that does not grow to have children of his own is a benefit to his mother’s other children and potentially his female siblings and their children. Meaning that a gay male helps that X chromosome propagate by not producing children of his own, yet being there as an additional protector/provider for his mother, siblings, and his siblings children.
This probably wouldn’t explain full-blow female homosexuality, but would explain male homosexuality and why it persists.
One thing I always like to bring up concerning “choice” or not from a male perspective is this question. Assuming you’ve partaken in all three holes on a female, would you think someone would make a choice to forgo the best one to keep the second place and third place finishers only?
However, in regards to “other animals have homosexuals” comments, humans are different in that in general homosexual humans tend to be exclusively homosexual. Animals might have stages or dabble here and there, but they will still heterosexually mate and breed.
That’s not to say abuse or social pressure or the various ills in society can’t “fool” someone into believing and choosing to be homosexual, either.

It’s not genetic.
It is definitely a trait that some are born with. There are many others who were not born that way but were turned that way by their upbringing. I’ve seen both.
To the OP’s point, just because people are born that way does not mean it is genetic. Something could have gone wrong in the womb, as an example.

Is the problem that there are lgbt or that there are lgbt parading down the streets in thongs with frickin dildos attatched to their foreheads?
Actually the problem is the people trying to convince you this behavior is normal and represents some kind of accomplishment.

Exactly this. Having a gay to help protect your harem and their children is a huge advantage. Gay dudes are way better fighters, constructers, and hunters than women. Instead of being occupied with mating they are there just protecting everyone and doing stuff.
Gays are likely an evolutionary advantage.

Think lefthanders & red heads.
No way to breed it out realistically, assuming you could even run a chromosome analysis accurate enough. Then there is "natural" chromosomal mutation that could always regenerate the process.
Worry about transgender & transhumanism, those are our real issues.

I’ve always thought they MUST be born that way & can’t help it because I know I was born attracted to the opposite sex & there’s no way I would ever want to be sexual with the same sex. I don’t really know though-I just know in my case I couldn’t change even if it was “wrong”
Were you ever molested by a man at a young age?

lefthanders
Here’s one for you…a higher proportion of left-handed people are homosexual than right handers, which again points to an in utero development rather than a choice.
