That area is no longer vitally central to the Republic. In fact Florida's a much better choice overall and much more economically centered.

I kind of like that DC isn’t a state. Besides, adding one more star will totally mess up the pattern and force me to buy a new flag.

What is the process for DC to become a State?
Is it strictly legislative, or do the other states get to vote?

Why is this shite even discussed?
It wont happen....it requires an amendment. If a simple majority was all that was required we'd be changing states every few years as one side tries to game the system. It would be chaos.
