You people have very limited views of the world if you think trinkets are the main things we bring from China.
Are you just a suckass, or are you a Chinese grad student, or a China Bot? How about all three.

What idiot would want to close the largest consumer market in the world to US companies?
Largest in population maybe.
They only have the ability to buy anything because their economy is an export economy. Take that away and they are back to eating dirt.
Also, you ignore the fact China has always tariffed US products and denies any foreign entity from owning a controlling interest in factories in China.
But you knew that right? Just didn't bother to mention it?
fricking hack.

We are going to start building factories in Greenland soon.
China will collapse.

I hope not. Human suffering is never good. We gotta get back to even on this “relationship” and establish some rules but I don’t want any country to collapse.

That’s why they’ll never make any sort of agreement so long as Trump has not yet won re-election. You can bet that the Chinese will do everything they can legally and illegally to influence our upcoming election and the Democrats know it all too well.
Raise those Tariffs up more then

It would actually be a net positive for us. The deflation we are exporting to China would end and our consumption would decrease overall freeing up capital for productive uses.

Nope. Not if they have to pay a price to do business in America. You cannot out leverage USA

Trump is so awful when it comes to economics. The huge market rally that happen 16-17 will be single handily destroyed by a president. I can’t think of another president who has single handily done that to a market.
FDR and Wilson were horrible. They played a huge part. As did LBJ bush and Clinton. But trump is really outdoing all.

I used to think that you were just a champion and defender of all things China but that statement above makes you appear uninformed - which I know isn’t the case with you. You don’t think Trump would tax them into oblivion? Why do you think Carrier had a last minute change of heart about moving their mfgering to MX? Move out of the US and you will pay through the nose bringing your goods back into country.

China most definitely. They're a paper dragon. The US can feed and fuel itself.

When I was a kid, all the cheap, plastic shite said, “Made in Japan”. Then, Japanese workers got westernized and became lazy and expensive. The cheap slave labor in China filled the void. The question is, who is the next China?

I think we made quality items ourselves that we actually needed before cheap crap from China showed up.
Actually we got our cheap shite from Japan in the 50s and 60s. It wasn't until the 70s that we realized Japan actually made really good shite.
China sets a very low bar when it comes to making cheap shite. They've been making really bad cheap shite for almost five decades now.

Trump just dragged his nuts all over China’s face

So you think this is all about trade? We’re entering another Cold War. Trump could see past the short term profits and he understood the long term pain of allowing China Superpower status. This trade war is letting China know that they’re not taking the crown without a knock down drag out.

This was the case. They still control 80% of the market and then some. However, other sourcing options are coming online. Myanmar will be a player in this market going forward. IIRC, Japan also found a source on some remote islands. In short, if (and when) these sourcing options come about...
China is fricked. The issue was a lack of captal investment needed to supply the infrastructure. I would imagine some loose change may be tossed in that direction from some major US corporations pretty soon. In short, spend enough to decrease China's production share (keep Trump and MAGA peeps happy), but not too much so as to keep China happy. Time will tell.
