Who suffers more? I’m not advocating this. Is it even possible for us to survive without Chinese goods or money or for them to survive without ours?

China and it's not even close. They have no where else to sell their trinkets to. The economy in the EU is declining and Russia is broke. Africa is.......well, Africa. Couple this with the F A C T that China can't feed themselves.

We'll still have our trinkets they'll just cost a little more and be made in Vietnam or Thailand.

I think we made quality items ourselves that we actually needed before cheap crap from China showed up.

I think both survives easily. We don't need them at all. It is not just china that eats soybeans. There are other countries that we will make a deal with. China has stolen from us for decades and we finally have someone standing up to them. Remember, the trade deficit favored China. They lose $550 billion in trade. We lose $150 billion in trade. Pretty easy to see who comes out better. Companies will be coming back to America to make their goods now that we have 20million mexicans here for the sweat shops.

Plastic junk can be produced anywhere. SE Asia is already major suppliers of semiconductors and other electronic pieces. China desperately needs heavy machinery, commercial aircraft, the manufacturing infrastructure, and that comes from Europe, India,Japan and the US.

What about all the rare earth materials for batteries and such? Doesn’t most of that come from China?

What idiot would want to close the largest consumer market in the world to US companies?

There would be some US companies move to Mexico or Canada to continue to sell into and buy out of China.

It would be stupid.

You people have very limited views of the world if you think trinkets are the main things we bring from China.

It doesn’t matter. China is all in on just surviving past Donald Trump. They know once the Dems take over they will once again be on easy street and not worry about a combative President that protects the interest of the United States.

That’s why they’ll never make any sort of agreement so long as Trump has not yet won re-election. You can bet that the Chinese will do everything they can legally and illegally to influence our upcoming election and the Democrats know it all too well.
