I’m really astounded that people here can’t see it. Alberta could easily be a split congressionally speaking, or even tilt blue. There are a heck of a lot of baws, hunting and fishing, and resources in California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, New York etc …but the urbanites outnumber the good guys.
It's odd because everyone seems to understand the urban/rural dichotomy everywhere else (Alberta is 70-75% urban) but when it comes to Alberta they just imagine farmland and oil fields.

I spend a lot of time in Alberta for work and have several friends there and always enjoy my trips there. They may be "conservative" by Canadian standards but the parallel to Denver and Minneapolis is an apt comparison. Ontario and Quebec regard them as a backward cowtowns although still happy to take advantage of their natural resources. And yes they still love "muh free healthcare" and other viewpoints that would make them blue states.

Beautiful area. Banff is a treasure. Most Albertans hate their overreaching government. It’s rural enough.

And Alberta is dominated by Edmonton and Calgary.
This is a controversial point on here for some reason.
On TDPT, you should NEVER get into the path of a stampede based upon preconceptions, biases and pleasant fantasies.

I thought I was subtle enough for it to go unnoticed for a while.

Kudos for the quick pickup/reaction.

Statehood? No. Not unless we could trade it for Minnesota.

50 states. Nice even number. It can definitely be a territory of the US though.

Alberta is Conservative as hell.

Too bad you don’t realize that.

Spectacular unless you don't like the taste of white tail, elk, moose, big horn, or black bear.

Spectacular, esp trout.

No, they would be to the left of any GOP state. They would end up creating a new Blue State.

Yes, but part of the statehood agreement is they can never ever become a sanctuary state and ICE and border patrol have satellite offices located there.

Don’t want another Mexican border issue.

No. As I am sure it has already been pointed out. A conservative Canadian is at best a moderate liberal. They've voted themselves out of almost all of their gun rights and they are just a few years behind the UK with the liberal politics.

No, I would rather they become a separate country altogether.

By Canadian standards, absolutely. But not by American standards.

As long as Saskatchewan is part of the deal.
Alberta and Saskatchewan have great whitetail hunting. The world record for Boone and Crockett typical was taken in Bigger Saskatchewan Canada. Both have similar resources to Texas along with great hunting. Not sure about the fishing.

Quote from Google search below.

Biggar, Saskatchewan, is famous in the hunting world as the site where Milo Hanson harvested the world's record typical whitetail buck in 1993, a legendary trophy scoring 213 5/8 points, still the largest ever, making the area a bucket-list destination for trophy hunters seeking giant bucks in the province's renowned hunting grounds. Saskatchewan, in general, offers premier deer hunting, with outfitters like Saskatchewan Big Buck Adventures guiding hunts for these world-class animals in a unique, cold, snowy landscape.
