From another post in another thread, my how far left the Democrats have gone. This is amazing and Clinton would be canceled these days.

Can you imagine any modern Democrat trying to run on that type of platform?

As much as I hated that guy, his administration was one of the most fiscally conservative of my lifetime, maybe THE most.

By today's standards, he's a conservative. Think about that.

You can thank Newt Gingrich for that, in large part.

Having said that, your point is still correct.

You absolutely would if it was against Biden/Harris.

I meant against today's ticket (Biden/Harris), but yeah even against some of these other ones too.

I think Bill Clinton is really why Trump chose to run.

It’s the polices that Bill enacted, and Bill’s decision to abandon working class white voters.

Balanced budgets aside - Bill sold out poor and middle class white Americans. It took a while to see it, but Bill’s choices created the modern Democratic Party, with its focus on identity politics, and enriching the upper middle class.

Phil Hartman as Clinton at McDonalds SNL

One of SNL's best political skits.

Here's the caption at Getty for the picture I posted:
quote:

Democratic Presidential Candidate Gov. Bill Clinton (R) responds to a supporter as he and his new vice presidential candidate, Sen. Albert Gore of Tennessee, walk back to the Governor's mansion July 10, 1992 after a morning jog in Little Rock, Arkansas.

So Bill and Al went for a jog and then went to McDonalds afterwards

Started to ask this question the other day: If Trump wins, do dems run a more moderate, Bill Clinton type Democrat in 2024?

Newt had a lot to do with that.

I think they are too far gone now. The party has been hijacked by the Squad.
