You really have gotten to be insufferable.

Early in the thread in response to YOUR question, I mentioned hiring and supervision (managing your already trained agents) in the comment pasted below. I didn't mention TRAINING.

Please stop lying.

Whether ICE will allow him to remain in state custody.

Also, goes into the political debate about the nature of ICE.

-Are the number of shootings done by ICE related to actual threats they face? This was the first shooting of an ICE agent I could find. (Maybe I missed some.)
-Screening and supervision of ICE agents. Are they as good as other LEO...or did ICE hire some mall cops?

Right.
Pretti spit on an fed LEO and damaged a vehicle the week before. Had that been MPD, he'd still be alive today, because they would justifiably have arrested the deranged leftist goon. The federals let him go because of a dearth of numbers and a distraction from mission at hand.

You think ICE is going to circumvent state charges.

Glad we're in agreement. Why were they surged into an environment for which they were poorly trained? Did DHS not know that Minnesota wasn't providing properly trained police?

Yes, I'm sympathetic to the DHS agents who were in over their heads in Minnesota. No, it doesn't mean that the Pretti homicide was a good shoot.

According to one report ICE already tried:

quote:

“Fresno police refused to release an arrested Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent to other ICE agents early Friday morning at Community Regional Medical Center.”

GV Wire: ICE, State Square Off

That report has been disputed, however...although the original reporters are standing by their reporting.

I don't think DHS will try to intervene. Too much time has elapsed without any credible defense from ICE or the agent having emerged.

Take it up with Tigah, call him a fricking clown. He's the one who said:

Homeowner not charged.

That's the political angle. Californians can shoot ICE agents.

I never mentioned the training of the Fresno ICE agent.

I have been patient with you. I always answer your questions honestly, and usually quickly. You're never appreciative. You are uniformly rude. You seldom add to the discussion. What a waste.

For the same reason the 101st Airborne Division, a light infantry unit not equipped or structured to fight heavy German panzers, was surged into Bastogne in 1944, or Federal agents were surged into Philadelphia MS in 1964. There was a job to be done. The choice was to allow state sponsored lawlessness. Got it?

What was Pretti doing there? What was Pretti doing there with a gun? Why was Pretti breaking the law? Why did Pretti put himself in that situation?

I have no idea WTF terminology like "good shoot" means in your mind. The question is was either Pretti or a Federal negligent. We can safely say, Pretti, seeking physical conflict with LEO's while armed, meets the negligent threshold 6 ways to Sunday. From everything I've seen, the rest is likely more unfortunate than anything else.

Officers were aware of Pretty. He had been violent toward LEO's previously. He was previously noted to be armed at the events. He was seeking conflict/disruption of CPB in his final moments. He'd have justifiably been considered by LEO's as a loon. You'd have to refresh my memory as to the sequence of the shout "GUN!", the apparent misfire during disarming him, etc.

He was saying Minnesota was an evil Democrat plot to get people killed by DHS and to blame DHS.

Possibly.

Why was DHS obliged to fall for it and force their agents into making the predictable mistakes when "CBP and ICE are neither trained nor equipped to do the things regular police are" (Tigah's words...not mine)?

No.
Again, you'd do far far better focusing on what you are actually saying than what you conjecture I am thinking.

Using your sophomoric terminology to simplify things, I was saying "Minnesota was an evil Democrat plot to get people killed," PERIOD! Whether it be DHS, civilians, or both did not really matter. Are we clear? The "evil Democrats" did not care.

When "evil Democrats" "plot" to withdraw ALL local law enforcement from massed riots, violent protests, anti-ICE activities, etc., what would you call that effort?

Because they had a job to do.

Almost all of this is irrelevant nonsense.

We didn't send the 101st Airborne into a mission when there were better trained units available. The Feds could have declared an emergency in Minnesota and used National Guard MPs or other assets that were trained for crowd control.

Pretti was unknown to the agents who shot him, except for his dealings with them that day. Pretti had clearly done criminal things (while armed) in the presence of OTHER federal agents days before he was shot to death. Maybe if they were better trained, they would have arrested him. He SHOULD have been arrested previously for assault of a federal officer and destruction of federal property.

Even assuming he were committing a crime when shot, that's not a justification for shooting him. You don't appear to be very well-informed on the Pretti case. Let's not waste each other's time litigating that.

Like Jbird, there's no honest give and take with you. For instance, when you accused me of not knowing that the Feds who shot Pretti to death weren't ICE, you didn't say "yeah, my bad" when I pointed out that I had purposefully used the term "DHS" to cover ICE and BP and CBP (Jbird and Tigah furiously looking up if that's true.)

It's always a forensic argument with you and your ilk. I'm not interested in proving I'm right. I'm just interested in understanding reality.

Most of y'all divide the world into good guys and bad guys. DHS are the good guys and can do no wrong. Those that oppose aggressive immigration tactics are the "bad guys" even if their opposition is legal.

I'm a Christian. I believe in objective truth and know that all of us are capable of bad acts. I'm curious what the facts are and what do they show. Most of y'all aren't. No big deal, but shaming me as if I were criticizing "Nuts" McAulfie (spell?) at Bastogne is just silly.
