Across the board tariffs would be extremely bad, but there is no chance Trump gets them through Congress anyway

There is NO CHANCE he wants to do that anyway.

This is just as stupid and dishonest as the harping about Project 2025.

The easiest things for the US to fix would be to change laws around collective bargaining and stop ridiculous climate change environmental regulations if they wanted to strengthen anchoring jobs in the US and lower rising cost. They aren’t going to do that so that basically leaves this tariff option to maybe atleast keep jobs in the US.

bullshite

The media and democrats have argued against tariffs since Trump first mentioned them in the campaign trail in 2016.

We know that you dishonest hacks know all tariffs aren’t bad. That’s why your boy Biden kept Trump’s tariffs and actually expanded them.

This is a prime example of “it’s (D)ifferent when democrats do it”.

The an isn't to place tariffs on everything, only in the goods the US is being fricked over on.
It's so damn simple. It's been discussed here many times. I don't understand why some folks can't see how tariffs would help America and stimulate more manufacturing in America.

There might be a negative impact on the US initially, but with all growth comes growing pains. It will take some pain to grow out of our dependence on foreign adversaries manufacturing all of our goods.

You should do more research on how Trump plans to use tariffs to help America.
Seriously.

Dramatically? Depends on how they are implemented.

The plan is 20% across the board as opposed to targeted tariffs so you tell me

The problem is the number one issue most Americans have with the economy currently is inflation, and raising the costs of cheap foreign goods by 20% isn’t going to help with that

Would providing Americans with better paying jobs that pump more money into our economy help? It seems like it would be more beneficial than that money circulating through the economy of our enemies.

Why do the people that are against tariffs only look at a portion of the equation? Is it because their narrative falls apart when they don't?

I believe trump was the one that said tarrifs aren't used today in his Chicago interview the other day after the moderator reminded him we have tarrifs today. He then went on a rant about how people think he will win so they already are cancelling projects

It’s kind of splitting hairs because I agree that they won’t happen, but the difference between the 20% tariff and Project 2025 is that both Trump and Vance regularly talk about wanting the one and push back at the other

I agree mostly, but the initial negative impact is going to make it wildly unpopular with a voting public that is concerned about inflation, and that’s if the wealthy benefactors who really control both houses of congress let it happen in the first place, which they won’t

He said 200% the other day...the higher the better I heard. I'm assuming he's smarter than that and is using it for negotiations but still it's pretty ridiculous

that's assuming the tariff accomplishes nothing.

The goal of his proposed tariffs is to bring better paying jobs back to the US.

Amy increase in job availability in theory increases earnings for all Americans, via job market competition.

So from there, the argument becomes, is a better worker economy better than 20% cheaper foods from China.

I don't know the answer, but you and the Harris campaign are only looking at one side of the equation

No, what I’m saying is that it takes time build and open a factory after responding to market conditions. In the interim, the prices will be higher. Inflation is a the major economic concern for most people right now. Ergo, the tariffs will be wildly unpopular. Also, I don’t have a factory job. I’m not going to have a factory job. My prices will still be up whether or not the rust belt comes back. That’s probably true for most Americans, including everyone on this board. Now you might say it’s worth it to you to pay higher prices if you know that it’s bringing jobs here, but we could both do that now!
