Get in touch with God. Talk to him and rest easy knowing that he’s got your back. Turn the news off and get away from computers and hand held devices. Put ur digital life on hold so to speak and make an honest effort to start enjoying and appreciating the real things around you. Start a project around the house. Go for walks. Eat healthy foods. Take a trip.

I let everything that’s going on piss me off pretty regularly too. But I don’t think people are actually any crazier now than any other point in time. I just think the crazy ones have a louder voice now and negative news can be videoed and reported almost as quickly as it’s happening. Social media has become the biggest downfall of our society, maybe ever. Get away from it and interact with the people around you and you’ll realize things aren’t so bad. The vast majority of people are still good. Best of luck. I pray that your treatment is effective and your progress is swift both physically and mentally.

I can't even think of the city of Seattle without getting mad or depressed. I already suffer from depression disorder but I take citalopram for it and it helps sometimes, but with everything that's going on, it is getting overwhelming.

I'm with ya on the depression thing, and I'm sorry to hear about your cancer returning. Just last night I told my wife that I've got to stop following the news and reading the Poli Board 10 times a day. I've struggled with depression, anger, and OCD my entire life. I've always been fairly intelligent in some areas (not math) but struggled in high school and especially in college because I was too stupid and depressed to have the discipline to make the effort. Finally started taking anti-depressants about 20 years ago. Have taken a high dose of Zoloft (300mg/day) for the past 10 years. Just now considering going to see someone who may recommend trying a new med. My wife tells me this stuff only lasts for so long. Maybe you should also consider seeing someone who could prescribe a different med.

Nevertheless, I was pretty successful in sales twenty years ago and made a lot of money - but made some bad career decisions and have bounced around in some shitty sales roles ever since. I have felt hopeless for years and hate that my wife has to put up with me every day. She has enough to deal with.

My advice, and the best advice that anyone could ever give you, is to pray for God to take this depression away from you. The crazy thing is that I know why all this is happening - as I am a big follower of Bible prophecy - but it still makes me angry that life as we know it is pretty much over in this country. God has given this nation warnings and opportunities to repent and turn to Him - but we have just pushed Him further and further away. I believe we are very likely under a final judgement, and He has therefore given us over to reprobate minds. It's almost inconceivable that things have deteriorated so much so quickly, that such a tiny segment of the population can wreak so much havoc on the greatest country that ever existed. But that's how God works, he uses some for good and others for judgment. If you wonder why, Romans 1:24-32 clearly shows us:

24Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen.

26For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. 31They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.

32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.

I realize this post took a turn, but understanding Bible prophecy will make you realize why these these things are happening and must happen prior to Christ's return.

Matthew 24
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Always remember social media distorts reality. The overwhelming majority of people in this country are good and decent. They're thinking let the left deal with the forces unleashed by the left in cities like Seattle and Portland

I went through a bout of depression when I was in my twenties. I would do faith walks in my backyard and God would speak to me during those. Here are some of the other things I did:

-Journal (be brutally honest in it. It taught me about problems I had that were intertwined and keeping me down)

-Pray to God (My savior is my everything. I didn't feel like praying much during those bad moments, but I did it out of faith that I would get better. It was critically important)

-Forgive anyone who may hurt you. Seriously, I found out my anger towards a couple of people was preventing healing overall.

-Sunlight and fresh air. It's important because lack of vitamin D can cause mood disorders.

-Lastly medication. I took no antidepressants because they made me worse. You will need something to help your body and mind through worst moments. I took some things that I probably shouldn't have, but they did help. It is a delicate balance and you have to be very careful not to fall into addiction of any kind. Dependency is fine, but not addiction. You can worry dependency later when you are healed, emotionally and spiritually.

Hang in there guy. God promised me that if I would continue to seek Him, He wouldn't let me stay depressed for very long and would never let it come back. My depression started in August of 2004 and by April 2005, I was almost back to normal. I am now 15 years depression free!!

Isaiah 26:3-4 (KJV) 3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH [is] everlasting strength:

Philippians 4:6-8 (KJV) 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Find a nice hobby. I had always wanted to learn how to fish so when everything shut down for Covid. I did some research and starter buying tackle. 3 months later and I pretty much go fish 1 or 2 days/nights a week. The stress relief is nice.

There are things that you can control, S...and those that you can not. Only to the degree that you can control your reaction to those negative things, can the state of your psychological quality of life be altered toward the good.

What you can control, is what you choose to believe; and what you believe, will have a great affect on how you 'feel'. Not physical feeling...spirit.

If you go all in, and truly BELIEVE that 'you' - in some way, shape or form - are going to exist forever (Religious Belief), then the (possible) positive effect toward shaping your present and future character that your current suffering holds...becomes a valuable positive. Your ability to empathize, have real compassion on those who suffer even worse than you, will greatly increase. And that is essentially the whole end game of Religious (Judeo-Christian) enterprise. To ALTER one's character in ways that create unity (Love) with all that is. Humankind, at the fore. "If you say you love God, and do not love your fellow man....you are a liar and the truth is not in you". Our task - assuming we aim high - is clearly defined in that Scripture.

There is a psychological dynamic that manifests in those who go all-in, re Belief...."a peace that passeth all understanding". And why wouldn't there be a peace if one believes that one's current and character-shaping suffering, in comparison to eternity...is a drop in a universal ocean. An ocean of 'Feeling'.

IMO, Jesus is real. A Spiritual Guide of sorts, and with power to form a real and personal bond with each and every child of God who is in trouble. And book it, we all are. Just that some are healthy, relatively prosperous and secure...while others are not. To ignore the plight of those who are, and believe that we are then, not in spiritual 'trouble'...is the folly of a fool.

Bottom line. Go all in, and ASK Jesus to take the reins. Totally COMMIT to being a loving person who desires to know the truth, and that pledges to act on those Truths as they come in focus. "Ye shall know the Truth, and it shall set you free". Your 'Faith' in said Belief, will only exist to the degree that you believe in it. And the effect will be directly proportional to that of your Belief.

Prayers and love from a fellow soul whose under the gun as well.

PS...all this negative stuff is Prophetic. Mere proof, that the 'second coming' of Truth...is nigh. Make it a positive, not a negative. Positivity will affect you health.

Edit for clarity. Should have proof read instead of shooting from the hip.

At least you are smart enough to realize your depression. Remember that we will only have these crazy negative news stories for around another 120 days until the election, so there is an end to some of this.

Get some exercise every day and limit alcohol consumption as that is a depressant.

Prayers for you my baw.

Praying that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will strengthen you and sustain you through this trial.

Many great suggestions already.

Yep, stay away from political boards & sites for the most part and turn off those depressing commentary shows.

And most of all, stay away from social media in regards to political issues. Lord knows there are some sad pathetic folks on there.

Yes, stay informed but maintain your sanity, watch shows like fishing, hunting, cooking or whatever you like.

Take up something like drawing or painting, there are hundreds of youtube vids on drawing/painting
instruction.
You will be surprised at how good you can become.

Try volunteering to help others, IDK, something like going to see other folks in your same spot just to visit or talk to over the phone.

Go see some elderly relatives or visit some children at the Shriners to give them encouragement.

There are dozens of ways to help others.

Pray to the Lord, learn His Word everyday, you may even teach a Sunday School.

Stay strong and positive by Baw.

My advice is to turn off the news for awhile & limit your online time
Get outside, it’s freaking hot but try to get outside & get some fresh air
Take your dogs for a walk, go sit at a restaurant patio & have a drink
Take up a new hobby

These. Sounds easy, right? But a hobby will help fill voids in your thoughts that let the negative thoughts in.

I hope your health improves, and to the extent your treatment allows, exercise will help.

Start by something simple like cleaning out and organizing a cluttered closet.

And, pet your doggos. They need you.

This is your one life. Tune out the noise.

You are supported by strangers who have just read your most intimate thoughts that were transmitted through your electric device, scrambled into radio signals that are sent through the air into our electrical square boxes across the world.

It's an amazing time to be alive.

As you can see we have a lot of good people on here in addition to a couple of reprehensible turds.

We love you, hope and want the best for you, and would love to hear something from you again. I will pray for you today. God loves you.

Tell someone irl...a friend, relative, coworker, someone...that you need a little help. A pick me up. A lot of people do care and would help but don’t want to intrude or ask. Don’t be ashamed of asking for help.

If you can, go for walks. Exercise if you can, it works out stress and tension. Perhaps a bike, swim or walk in a pool if possible. Buy some dumbbells to keep at home. Maybe a stationary bike or other equipment. Try to find peace and enjoyment in the little things. Maybe find a good park or street bench and watch some scenery.

Talk to a pastor or minister.

Take care of yourself friend.
