I think it's mostly trump supporters who want republicans to show a United front like the democrats do.
Democrats circle the wagons, republicans charge single wagons at the oncoming horde. Part of it is in the dna and general rejection of collectivism, but it's definitely true that that individualism has led to political impotency.

With some of the Republicans crossing over and joining the oncoming horde and other Republicans not charging because those that are charging the horde are not charging the way they think they should and some Republicans simply refusing to charge at all.

As for OP, I know lots of DeSantis supporters and none of them would classify themselves as enthusiastic Trump supporters. That might change as the general approaches and the left gets louder, but it's nothing akin to 1a and 1b.
