I see people on here say that the social security trust fund was “raided”. That’s false

By not having a mechanism to keep them separate it was raided.

For all practical purposes, its similar. They just didnt have the foresight enough to structure it where the surpluses remained in the system.

Let me ask you something. Let’s say you have 50,000 dollars just sitting in your checking account, earning zero interest

Why not put it all in treasury bonds so it can at least earn some return

It’s the same concept with the social security surpluses from 1983-2009.

It made zero sense to not invest it on t bonds

This just provides justification for "raiding" money that should have been earmarked.

The issue is SS funds arent. So they can be raided.

That paragraph is written to justify the boondoggle the government created by co-mingling funds that are essentially an annuity that should be on its own asset line instead of a liability line. The general public goes to jail over this type of fraud

How?

Money printer goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzttttttttttttt?

Yeah, that's called making inflation. So it doesn't matter if they pay you in the end because it's not worth what you put in it once they send you some back.

Whatever words you use, there's still no money to pay all the people who've paid into it.

We are paying them more than what they paid into it

Which is why it’s in shambles

I got it. The government lent the money for the government to spend. And then the government didn't have to pay back the money the government spent on other things.

So if I went and took all the money from a bank teller but gave her IOU notes to replace the cash with I won't be arrested for theft?

It was not raided, it was stolen. Stolen by your pal Joe Biden and his democrat crooks in Congress.

Certainly Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY) thought so. I'll never forget his rage as he confronted his colleagues in the Senate (including Joe Biden) as he stood on the floor of the Senate and blurted out,"It's official, we're stealing from the American People". Don't believe me? Do your own research.

The really bad part of this treachery, Joe Biden is still stealing from Social Security and the American people. True to his crooked ways, in an effort to buy the votes of illegal aliens (look for them to vote in November 2024) Joe Biden is now handing out Social Security Cards to illegals.

81 million votes. And everyone of those Biden voters is being screwed by corrupt Joe Biden and his crooked democrat pals in Congress.

Choices have consequences. Bad choices have catastrophic consequences.

That is both false and stupid.
I'm amazed you continue to miss the mark on SS dynamics, funding, and goals.

SS is in the black. Compared with the rest of our budget, "shambles" is a breathtakingly ignorant descriptor of SS.

It's a classic Ponzi scheme. Initially a lot of money that could be paid out. But as people started living longer and collecting benefits longer, coupled with reduced people contributing shortages are bound to happen.
