My wife and I have decided against vacations recently because they would’ve been to Hawaii and California. We won’t even visit her family in Illinois, but they are super liberal so we wouldn’t have much fun there anyway. I refuse to fund the economies of liberal areas where the people and government would be perfectly content with socialism. Are we over reacting?

We were going to go to Hawaii and stop in Napa Valley on the way back for a few nights but we nixed those plans last year.

No, why finance people who want you to take care of them?

So... no going to see LSU play in a liberal city for a game or the playoffs?

Yes. Plenty of blue states have good people in them.

I certainly don't blame you. I know I won't spend any money in a blue state. If I have to travel through one I stop somewhere before I cross the state line, fill up the gas tank and eat and then travel straight through without stopping. frick the left wing, they ain't getting a penny from me.

I typically stay along the Gulf Coast.

May take a trip up to Tennessee, Arkansas or Missouri for some backwoods, Deliverance, trips, but without the arse fricking.

We used to vacation in NY City once a year, usually around Christmas time, to see some Broadway plays.

We haven't been back there in years ever since Fredo's older brother, the governor, said people like us are not welcome in his state.

if Governor Andrew Cuomo had his way, he’s prefer it to say “ever liberal”. He recently told conservative Republicans – specifically anyone who is pro-traditional marriage, pro-life or pro-guns – they “have no place in the state of New York.

Yes. Hawaii and California are awesome places to visit. You're tourism dollars aren't going to fund socialism. Life is short, enjoy it while you can. You're letting your politics ruin your quality of life.

My thoughts on this

Life is short, if you're limiting where you go on vacation because a state is "blue" then the only person you are really hurting is yourself. Going on vacation somewhere isn't like moving there.

Having been to both Hawaii and California numerous times, I would never move to either, but I'll sure go enjoy the raw natural beauty of Hawaii or the wines of Napa Valley any chance I get. All the while I will make fun of the idiots in charge of the state.

My FIL has a huge house outside Chicago. I feel that he and his wife lean right but he has never come out and expressed any form of support one way or the other. We visit them and have a good time in Chicago anyway. I just avoid talking to strangers up there.
