I got no problem with this.
Why should broke arse blacks and messicans have to pay for Whitey's free booze in the airport lounge and upgrade from poverty seats to still not rich seats.

It will hurt people more than it helps as CC companies will get too selective in who they give credit to and many people won't have access to credit they rely on for emergency situations
This is the absolute truth. Take it from someone who is in the credit card industry. You want a 10% cap ( what I've seen floated around) then you better have 750+ credit or suddenly CC's are going to become unavailable to you.

Would it have broken your fingers to actually type out CREDIT CARD!

I do find it weird i ised to get 9% cc when my credit score was in the 500s around 10 years ago, and now with an 807 i get 23% offers.

agree
the times i was swamped with credit card offers? when i was a freshman in college, when i bought my first house and when i had a bankruptcy. i didn't get jammed up but i can see how people do, especially young folks
no free lunches, but i understand

Government is so stupid
Altho I agree with your sentiment, our entire economy is now based on credit. If there were no CCs, this country would be a bigger train wreck than it is now. CC companies have been preying on us, kept us in perpetual servitude and enslaved to a degree just from interest fees.

It's predictable that people will get taken advantage of but that's no reason to screw a fellow human being over. If they can't police this amongst themselves, then there is no choice but for government to step in and get involved. I support that 100%.

Of course you do. Love you some government

Caps will just limit financiers allowing people with higher risk to get credit. I’m zero percent surprised these two have no clue how risk impacts rates.
Isn't that a good thing?

I would rather them find a way to regulate the insurance business. Insurance is a runaway train. Premiums are out of control.

I bet you can kiss your credit card points goodbye if they put a hard cap on interest rates

Government has the data to back this opinion, not that they themselves have any leg to stand on.
Usury is evil. Government curtailing usury is lesser of two evils. I support this bill.

States do regulate insurance.
That's why so many pulled out of California. The regulators set the rates so low that the companies couldn't make money, so they quit doing business there.

Let us not beat around the bush and play nice, we are all thinking it

I’ve fine with interest caps as long as everyone realizes that a lot of people will no longer qualify for credit.
