I probably would have been aborted

If it were legal and free in 1960 when I was born.
My mom was poor, not particularly religous, we lived in the projects, I was her 6th child, my father was an alcoholic and did not support the family. Had I been an unborn child 13 years later - after Roe v Wade, I sincerely doubt I would have made it out of the womb in one piece.
I bootstraped myself to pay my way through college and have a great career, looking forward to a great retirement. That's not the story the libs write about poor unwanted babies being born.

If you were to ever bring this up to libs, they would get burning red mad over it. They do not like to ever hear about a self-made person. It completely offends them.

Even if you’re not successful, even if you aren’t wanted, even if you’re crippled, even if you have Down’s syndrome, you’re still a human being.

My grandfather was a drunk, horrible person. In October of 1978, in the middle of the 'Jesus Movement,' he and his wife found Christ in a Pentecostal church in the middle of nowhere, Alabama.
My 19-year old mother got pregnant with me in January, 1979. A year earlier, and my grandparents would have pressured my mother to abort me.

I was a prom baby in the mid '80s. Two teenage parents. Dad was out of high school for a year. My mom was still in school. Rather than aborting me, they got married. They remain married to this day.

Libs are self-made jackasses.

quote:
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. - Psalm 139:13-16

Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. - Luke 12:7
I am glad that you are here with us my friend.

Interesting story. Just imagine how many aren't around to share their stories.

No one has really ever straight up told me that, but it has been between the lines. Unfortunately, my mother liked the company of men and drugs more than being a mother and the state of Alabama took me from her at a young age. I was adopted by a good, decent family and ended up okay.
I learned in adulthood that my biological mother died on the toilet of a heroin overdose. My life could have been very, very different.

My sister was adopted at birth in 1971 in Arkansas, me in 1975. Our birth mothers are hero’s.

Yes.
Seriously though, a liberal always believes that if there is any amount of greatness in a person, it must have been granted by the state. Therefore the state, not God and not the indwelling of God in man, is always the greatest in their eyes.

I was in a similar situation except my mom did want to abort me and Dad was not an alcoholic. They both explained to me and Bro that they could not pay for college. Hell, they could barely pay for food. I got a lot of academic scholarships. Bro went college ROTC.
Congrats on getting it done without a student loan.

I'd imagine the bulk of adoptive parents are good people. Glad you got a good set.
Were you an only child growing up or did they have other kids?

I think this is part of some leftists visceral hatred of Tim Tebow. The doctor recommended abortion to his mother for medical reasons, but she refused.

One less Auburn fan. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

I had a scheduled abortion. My dad put in an appointment. He never wanted kids. My 16 year old mother refused to have an abortion - she grew up in a religious home and my grandmother would have disowned her.
So here I am, still living.
Dad is now dead but we reconnected a few years back and put alot of things behind us.

This in addition to being a basically good Godly man. Libs don't like Godliness.

quote:I conveyed a success story about my cousin, who gave her child up for adoption, who later became a successful digital artist at Pixar to a 30 year-old lib female (who was reading a book about communism) speaking to me at restaurant bar in Oakland, who had a worthless degree from UC Berkley and had told me she'd had multiple abortions, and was bemoaning the fact that she only earned $10 an hour working at a coffee shop, and her brother ("one of the 1%ers") was refusing to help her with her debts. She also blamed Ron Paul, for some inexplicable reason, for her troubles.

When I told her this success story about my cousin and the son she'd given away for adoption, I ended it with, "maybe doing the right thing results in better success in life, and maybe that explains why you've had so much trouble in yours."
That's when she looked like this as she screamed at me "Eat shite and fricking die!" over and over while walking away and leaving the restaurant. My deed for the day was done.

America is the land of opportunity. Being pro-life is pro-opportunity. Not everyone can come up under ideal circumstances and have the same resources, but everyone should have the opportunity for life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Great job of taking advantage of the opportunity you were given.
