Fuentes was always a grifter.
I said after Charlie was killed that Fuentes will see an uptick in attention because he was more forceful in his vocabulary and some people will be so pissed off about what happened with Charlie and will gravitate towards someone like Fuentes.
But, Fuentes fricked up his 5 minutes of fame. After just a few months he started trying to herd people towards the Democrat party. He didn't even try to solidify his base before veering to the left. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the people who started listening to him immediately tuned him out once he started proving himself to be a low budget grifter.
