He’s definitely showing what a Republican in name only is while feeding into the uniparty.

He led the attack on Dr. Fauci when a lot of republicans didn't want to risk it.

Agreed. Look how well that turned out.

How many years has it been since Covid and not one person has been held accountable

And that would be the fault of republicans not named Rand Paul. He wrote an excellent book on why Fauci belongs in jail.

Calling Rand Paul the "new Mitch McConnel" is maybe the most nonsensical thing posted on this site in a while. It's laughably idiotic and objectively the opposite of the situation

Lol I’m sure he profited well too. I guess a book is the convicted way of taking care of things.

Rand is a nerd. He doesn't have the level of influence needed to do the things we want him to do. He's weak, in that sense, for sure.

But he's not being an ideological coward on this.

No publicly speaking out and standing against Fauci while others including Trump were in lock step with Fauci and were empowering him was the convicted way to act though.

I understand that about him and that’s why we’re fed up. Even you recognize that Congress needs to actually do something. I honestly hate that we have these worthless reps in an age of technology where we the ppl should be more in charge of voting on issues for the country. Rand is a great guy there’s no doubt. He needs to do more than not vote and write books though as he himself has warned us many times we don’t have much time.

How can Rand 'take care of things'? Get a rifle and murder Fauci?

I just think it's probably unreasonable to think you're going to bridge this gap with him, especially as his ability to stick to guns (at least ideologically) is probably why you respected him in the first place.

And he's not alone - plenty of non-GOPe people don't think the tariff scheme is going to bear fruit, and I don't think there is anything disloyal or wrong about that belief. Now, standing in the way of it, while in the party led by Trump, is probably a different discussion.

But the underlying question is whether there is room for Rand in the populist/MAGA GOP if people in the latter can't get past him taking this stance.

That’s on him. He’s free to give up the money and support. We would very much love him on our team, preferably over the first part. We’re not losing anything though as right now he’s not supporting the issue yet still taking money and using the (R).

And none of this is an ultimatum just a discussion

That's cool, but when your principles have you siding with communist China and scumbag democrats, a smart person would reevaluate.

The most hypocritical thing is how the Panicans have attacked the Trump admin for saying "Main Street over Wall Street" because it was too close to rhetoric from Bernie Sanders.

Now, here is Rand Paul standing on stage with Schumer and Warren. Yet, somehow, he's "principled" for doing it.

So, just to sum up the position of the Panicans.

Using similar words but different strategies is very, very bad.

Fighting alongside democrats against the agenda of the President from your own party is totally principled and just hunky dory.

Can you see why you people aren't being taken seriously?

He's extremely principled, and he is showing strength in standing by them right now. Do I agree with him? Absolutely not, but that doesn't mean I don't respect him for his position. He's probably the only one doing so out of actual principle rather than fake showmanship.

This "he's so principled" talk is for losers. It's what people say when they don't win or are about to make an arse of themselves.

"He may have won, but at least we have principles."

"I know it's only $1, but I'm going to cause a scene because it's the principle of the matter."

If your principles have you siding with a communist country who has intentionally destroyed your industries, stolen your IP, used your money to buy other allies, committed espionage against you, and released a worldwide genetically-altered virus, then what good are they?

I don't care how "principled" someone is when the results of their actions are negative. This is the real world. We don't give out participation trophies. "You completely screwed us, Rand, but your intentions were good. Here's your trophy. And a sign to go with it."

How disappointing. To have anything in common with a Democrat these days puts you on the wrong side of history.
