....since Nancy and Chuck said if POTUS will stop the shutdown they will negotiate in good faith...if they don't come to the table in a solid way in 3 weeks then he can use the emergency option and make them look like the liars they are while Gov't workers get paid. Wins all the way around.

pay attention, this already happened.

trumps last meeting with the shining twins he said if he agreed to reopen the government, would nancy and chuck agree to agree to fund the wall in the next 30 days and they said no, so he walked out

not sure how much weed lindsay is smoking but why is he suggesting repeating exactly what trump already did last week? the dimms already said hell no they wont do it because trumps proposal would have forced them to agree to it up front as part of the deal

If Trump does open the government for 3 weeks . Then DACA needs to be the main compromise when the government shuts down and we build the wall as a emergency. He needs to offer citizenship for all working class non criminal DACA immigrants and send the rest back and end DACA .

If Trump caves to this, then there will never be “the wall”. He will be vilified when (and the shitheads will) the Democrats refuse to negotiate on the wall and he tries to shut foen government again.

Keep it shut now until the Dems cave

why you wouldn’t pass a CR that covers getting the people back to work

Because that is what is done every time and the Rs get absolutely nothing every time. Whatever is promised is reneged on by Dems, and when the CR runs out we start it all over again like nothing ever happened. Rs are evil hatemongers.

No CR. I don't care if the "shutdown" goes long enough to shut down some "essential" programs. No fricking CR.

I think this is the best idea. Jeanine laid out the Youngstown case in favor of Trump but they will drag it on and on and scream impeachment and abuse of power.

Trump asked Nancy if they could open govt and in 30 days--- re visit wall funding and she said, NO! They promised him after omnibus they would cont.. funding the wall. They lied. So no more verbal agreements with democrats they are filth.

Simply put the democrats need to negotiate. No one believes the BS polls that it is not their fault. I say continue playing chicken they look like a-holes. Even Cher said give him the wall.

Agreed!

EVERY news program I hear, read or watch has put a human (read as liberal) spin on this shutdown. I don't even care whether the polls are accurate. We shouldn't want him running the country like Clinton did. Once built, we'll see how the public feels when it stops or slows most trafficking across the boarder.

Three things I've learned in the last two years:

1 - The media is far worse than anything people joked about prior.

2 - We have a president who is really doing the 'right' thing, protecting our country and fulfilling a campaign promise. The opposition who continues to talk collusion and traitorous behavior is far worse and only care about blocking any and all things Trump.

3 - I weep for 50% of this country.

And the workers? Are they the pawns here?

You can get people working while still forcing them to the table based upon what the CR says.

Why are their jobs sacred? Mine is not. Yours is not.

It is the Dems using these people as pawns, as they do every victim group in their convenience store of pawns. You know this.

Because we can’t, as a government, afford for them to seek work elsewhere. The talent alone would be extremely difficult to replace.

Second, the job isn’t sacred. They are subject to the same firing process as anyone else. That said, being told you have a job and could work, but aren’t being allowed to (and unpaid) because elected officials are using you as a political football is not the same as what private sector deals with.

You can’t just replace 800k white collar engineers, scientists, and management.

Then Trump never gets a wall and has zero leverage, loses in 2020 because he caved.

Keep it closed, they will break.

Lindsey Graham, who encouraged Trump to declare a national emergency, comes from a state that pays $25 billion in federal income tax while receiving $200 billion. The extra $175 billion is equal to 30 walls ($175/$5.7). How about addressing your state’s freeloading problem before making statements on fiscal policy nationally?

I agreed with his (Grahams) concept, I think 2 weeks would be better.

The important part was setting the deadline for negotiations to end at 2 weeks and making a hardline to shut the government down again if no agreement is made by then. This would put the ball firmly in Trump's court, as the next shutdown would only PROVE that the Dems aren't willing to negotiate. We all know that's the case right now, but arguments can be made against it.

Graham's idea shuts the doubt completely down. 2 weeks; if they can't come to the table in that time span it's 1000% the Dems fault. Leave no doubt.

Reminds me of the Camel sticking his node under the tent. If you turn it on for 1 second, the opportunistic Democrats will find a way to keep it on indefinitely. Are you really that naive?
