Again, it’s the epitome of partisanship to completely absolve Trump from any blame on this. He encouraged the shut down and signed the stimulus Bills.
Regardless, the Left is going to pin the horrific repercussions on him anyway. And that’s my point.

I don't know how we're ever getting out of this, unless summer just causes the virus to fizzle out temporarily.

The federal guidelines are deeply flawed in that they required no increase in case numbers to move from phase to phase, which seems impossible given everything we now know. It seems like this virus is much more infections but also much less severe than initially believed, so there will be a rebound.

We should be reopening stuff as long as healthcare systems aren't being overwhelmed, regardless of rebounds. I don't really get what we're trying to accomplish as a society right now with these extensions.

I came here for this. I knew it'd be here. Trump was literally on the news daily telling everyone to stay at home. Now he may not have actually "shut the states down", but let's be honest.

Are you saying every conservative Governor would have shut down his/her economy and lost untold revenue in taxes had Trump encouraged them to stay open? Simple question.

I think Trump has gotten the better of the Left at almost every turn in the past. Sadly, I think they used his genuine concern for the well being of Americans to hamstring himself this time. I hope I’m wrong.

I think this hurts the Democrats far more than it hurts Trump.

I also believe you can not turn honest hard working people into government assistance leaches in a matter of a few weeks. It's taken generations of conditioning to create that in some people. Yes some will rather sit on their asses and collect government handouts but I don't think it will be a substantial amount and even they will return to the working world sooner rather than later.

Sure, it’s water under the bridge. Unfortunately, the water will tear down the bridge and destroy entire towns in its path.

I’m not buying the group that pretends Trump should be totally absolved from the decision making process to shut down the economy and pass two horrible stimulus Bills.

So first it was “trump is racist for shutting down travel to China and calling it the China virus”

Then it was “trump isn’t taking this seriously enough”

Now it’s “trump is the reason the democratic leaders of cities and states closed down their economies”

So fricking predictable. Liberals are such losers.

I’m a strong Trump supporter and I hope I’m wrong about this being his Waterloo, but I can’t pretend he had no culpability in this shut down scenario. That would assume that Trump is basically powerless and subordinate to all state Governors.

I would like to see anywhere where Trump called for businesses to shut down. I don’t recall that happening.

You seem to be in the group claiming he is solely responsible.

He strongly encouraged states to initially close for 14 days, and we know how that’s played out.

So, on March 15 he should have come out and said 'THIS IS A HOAX. STAY OPEN. NO ONE WILL DIE'.
Is that what he should have done?

But I’m not a liberal, and I’m not absolving Governors of their role in this. I’m simply stating that Trump will ultimately be blamed for the coming economic collapse, and it would have been better for him to go down fighting than him buying the rope they will use to hang him.
